Esso (Thailand) Public Company Limited joined hands with Mae Fah Luang University to start a program for better health and quality of living for elderly by using database management system and information technology tools.
Mr. Wanchai Jongsutthamanee (6th left, sitting row), mayor of Chiang Rai City, honorary presided over the opening ceremony of the program titled "The Development of Database Management System for Health and Jobs for the Elderly in Chiang Rai City" and was joined by Prof. Asst. Gp. Capt. Dr.Thongchai Yoyativong (5th left, sitting row), vice-president of Mae Fah Luang University, and Ms. Jidapa Loryuenyong (7th left, sitting row), community relations advisor of Esso (Thailand) Public Company Limited. The ceremony was held at University of the Third Age Chiang Rai City.
Thailand has been moving towards an ageing society. The collection of health information will enable better data analysis to identify significant elderly health issues in the community. The analysis will lead to better health care activities and appropriate advice to the elderly in the long run.
On this occasion, Mae Fah Luang University invited over 60 students from Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Health Science and Information Technology to collect health information via medical check-ups including exercises and nutrition tips to elderly people at the community.
Esso (Thailand) Public Company Limited has continuously supported Mae Fah Luang University on several health initiatives. Previous activities included the exemplary health program at Dusit Technical Border Patrol Police School and health promotion for the elderly at Mae Kham sub-district in Chiang Rai province.
This program is aimed at encouraging students to utilize their knowledge and give back to society by improving health of the elderly.
