SCB and Nok Air first in Thailand to introduce 4.0 traveling experience with QR Code Payment

Bangkok--4 Apr--Siam Commercial Bank In a bid to help transform Thailand into a cash cashless society, Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) is taking another step forward in expanding its e-Payment options, recently collaborating with Nok Air in developing Thailand's first QR code payment system for airlines to meet the lifestyle needs of a new generation of travelers. The new system will be available for customers booking air tickets via www.nokair.com, and will soon expand to include mobile phones and Nok Air check-in counters nationwide. The new payment method aims to increase convenience while creating a new payment experience for customers, reaffirming a continued commitment by the two firms to introduce innovative services. It is believed that this collaboration will help SCB achieve its 1.2 million customer target for QR payments for 2018. Commenting on the new system, Mrs. Apiphan Charoenanusorn, Siam Commercial Bank Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Operations, Retail Products and Retail Payments, noted that "SCB is determined to develop its digital platform infrastructure while at the same time offering new customer experiences. This will be the key to increasing its potential and competitiveness amid the increasing role of digital technology. This effort fully aligns with Nok Air's commitment to developing service innovations to satisfy their customers' demands. SCB has worked closely with its business partners to create a digital platform to help transform Thailand into a cashless society, particularly new payment methods such as QR code scanning to reduce cash usage, while accommodating a new generation customers. This cooperative effort with Nok Air in developing QR code scanning for payment marks another major step in meeting the demands of every lifestyle in the digital age for Thai travelers. At present, SCB provides QR payment service to nearly 1 million customers. SCB is confident that the association will be well received and help the Bank achieve its target of 1.2 million customers using QR payment service in 2018." Nok Air CEO Mr. Piya Yodmani said that, "Nok Air is Thailand's first airline to adopt QR code payment service. This new payment channel is part of our service quality development and modernization for increased convenience. The adoption of digital payment is in line with the government's policy promoting a cashless society by implementing new technology to develop payment channels. Nok Air's introduction of QR code payment will boost its progress and leadership in using new technology for its airline business operations." The new payment system via QR code is now available for air ticket reservation via www.nokair.com, and will soon expand to include mobile phones and Nok Air check-in counters nationwide. Special -- passengers paying with QR codes via Nok Air's website will receive transaction fee waivers until year-end.
