Today (April 8th, 2018) at Khelangnakorn parkin Lumpang Province, PTT Public Company Limited joins hand with Cultural Office of Lampang Province and Cultural Council of Lampang Province to celebratethe 17thSalung Luang Drums Playing on Thai New Year Festival in Lumpang Provinceand Kog-Pu-Ja competitionfor Queen Sirkit's Cup.Mr.Songpon Savastham,Governor of Lampang Provincepresides as chairman along with Mr. Chuchat Potirat, Lampang Petroleum Terminal Division Manager, PTTPLC for the openning event.
Mr. Chuchatstated that PTT in coordination with Cultural Office of Lampang Province and Cultural Council of Lampang Provinceorganized"the Salung Luang Drums Playing in Celebration of Thai New Year inLumpang Province" between April 8 – 10, 2018touphold Lumpang folk culture that nearly faded away. This activityhas received a warm response from both youth and adult in rural areathat caugth onto be an annual fiestain Lumpangnowadays.Thai traditional culture has been revived and conserved long with local musical intruments whichhas been passing on from genertion to generation.
Salung Luang Drums Playing in Celebration of Thai New Year not only exhibitsKog-Pu-Ja contest with performances from 13 Teams or 13 districts but there are plenty offolk art and performance to enjoy such as Lumpang folk fiddle, Lannadrum, and The Symphony of Lights "A Preservation Beautiful Culture in Thai New Year". Dressing in national costumesis encouraged while participating in this festive event.
