Bangkok--18 Apr--Mind PR
Magnolia Quality Development Corporation Limited (MQDC) and Autodesk today signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to advance sustainable design and construction practices in Thailand.
As leaders in their fields, MQDC and Autodesk will work collaboratively to advance the adoption of connected Building Information Modeling (BIM) technologies and methodologies – from planning and design through to construction – among industry players in Thailand. The companies will also promote best practices for AEC (Architecture Engineering and Construction) firms to innovate and transform their workflows to achieve greener building outcomes.
MQDC's pioneering approach toward 'sustainnovation' coupled with its early adoption of Autodesk BIM tools has enabled the firm to substantially improve the quality, cost, time, environmental performance, and quality of its developments.
MQDC's pioneering 'smart city' development on Bangkok's Sukhumvit Road, including the Great Good Place, WHIZDOM 101 retail space and residences, is a testament to the transformative power of connected BIM technologies for sustainable yet high-performance design.
Autodesk software helped the project optimize energy savings and sustainability through exploring aspects such as wind patterns and water drainage. Slated for completion in 2018, the 'smart city' has already won international recognition for using high-tech design tools to cut energy use, including a podium finish in the Sustainability category of the 2017 AEC Excellence Awards – the first Southeast Asian project to win one of these prestigious accolades.
"Under its 'sustainnovation' approach, MQDC embraces innovations that can improve sustainability and fulfill its commitment 'for all well-being' – covering all living beings and not just humans. Through working with Autodesk to share our experience with BIM, we aim for the wider sector to use fewer resources yet still improve quality of life, as we have with our 'smart city' project on Sukhumvit 101," said Suttha Ruengchaipaiboon, President of MQDC.
"MQDC's use of BIM and its approach towards 'sustainnovation' embody what the future of making things for the architecture and construction industry is all about. Together, we look forward to promoting design excellence, and empowering local companies with the knowledge and technologies to be more innovative and competitive," said Alfred Tan, Regional Director, Autodesk ASEAN.
