ASEAN Parliamentarians for Human Rights (APHR) is seeking a new Research and Advocacy Director to oversee and guide the organization's research work, public and private advocacy initiatives, and long-term strategies.
This is a senior management role for an experienced human rights professional with demonstrated success in this field. The Research and Advocacy Director will be integral to the design and implementation of APHR's overall efforts to empower Southeast Asian parliamentarians to engage as regional and international human rights advocates, working closely with legislators and civil society partners to build networks and develop the resources needed to advance human rights in the ASEAN region.
The Research and Advocacy Director will manage a small team and maintain the organization's overall public presence. The individual will also be responsible for helping to craft and focus APHR's strategic vision, developing and delivering innovative means to integrate parliamentarians into wider campaigns, and working across the organization, as well as closely with local, regional, and international partners on specific human rights initiatives. Strong knowledge of the regional political and human rights context is desirable, but the role is also open to professionals with demonstrated commitment and skills relevant to the position.
The Research and Advocacy Director is expected to be based in a Southeast Asian capital city; the specific location is negotiable.
