Charoen Pokphand Foods PCL (CPF)'s social and self-sufficiency plan has assisted a total of 472 underprivileged elders who live nearby its manufacturing plants by providing them health care treatment and fund to improve their quality of life.
CPF's Fund for Elderly scheme draws to support disadvantaged, impoverished, neglected, unaided, or disabled elders surrounding the factories and farms as well as the areas within the animal farming program.
So far, the company has invested more than Bt80 million since the start of the project in 2011.
Mr. Wuthichai Sithipreedanant, Senior Vice President for Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development of CPF, said the campaign aims at improving the elderly people's living standard as well as providing specific needs to them.
The project has initiated to tackle issue of aging society in Thailand as a part of
CPF's core philosophy of "Three Benefits to Sustainability including the Country, the People, and the Company.
"It is our responsibility throughout our goals to cultivate a value of sharing in the organization and giving back to the society" Mr. Wuthichai added.
The scheme's participants must be over 60 year-old underprivileged person who live in five kilometers radius from CPF's plants for more than 3 years.
Those elders will receive Bt2,000 per month, relief goods and renovations package such as house reparation.
CPF's volunteers will visit those elders on monthly basis. They will also be invited to join any traditional activities hosted by the company such as Songkran Festival, helping to make them feel valued again.
