Bangkok--Sep 17--Siam Canadian
Siam Canadian Gourmet Limited recently introduced "Ore-Ida Vendor" , the first french fry vending machine in Thailand.
After a year of marketing research, Siam Canadian Gourmet Limited, the exclusive distributor of Ore-Ida Vendor, the U.S. french fry vending machine, will market this innovative product in six target areas - movie theatres, universities, kiosks, airports, department stores and gas station, minimarts, etc.
It is planned to introduce more than 20 outlets in Bangkok to introduce more than 20 outlets in Bangkok and surrounding areas before the end of this year.
"French fries are favorite hot snack for Thais; every fast food chain here has them on the menu," said Mr. James Gulkin, managing director of Siam Canadian Gourmet. "But Thai consumers still have a limited choice, because french fries are only sold in restaurants or fast food chains and customers have to stand in line for a long time."
Compare this to "Ore-Ida Vendor" and you will see a big difference. Only 45 seconds for the conin-to-cup vend cycle and a cupful of crisp and golden french fries will be ready for the delight of customers.
The Ore-Ida French Fry Vendor does not cook with hot oil but uses a hot air convection oven which cooks golden, delicious french fries in just 35 seconds (cooking time only). At first, a basket full of pre-cooked fries will be inserted into the cooking chamber and rotate while hot air is forced through the basket. After cooking, the basket slides out of the cooking chamber and deposits fries into a waiting cup, with a salt-and- ketchup packet included.
This new technique results in 20% less fat than is contained in traditional fast food fries and is more suitable for health-conscious customers.
"Maybe this is a new concept of buying things from vending machines in Thailand; but it is very popular in the U.S. and Europe," Mr.Suphot (Mike) Boonpipat expect that in a short time Thai customers will accept this like buying Coca-Cola or Pepsi from vending machines."
As its marketing strategy, Siam Canadian Gourmet will install about 20 outlets in public areas. At first, it is planned to share profits with owners of outlets rather than renting the place.
"The Thai economy is slowing down, but we think this will have no effect on our market. We have our target groups and the price will be competitive with any fast food restaurant," Mr.Suphot (Mike) Boonpipat said "Out target for the first year is to strenghten our image as the leading company in introducing innovative products to the Thai market."
Siam Canadian Gourmet Limited, a subsidiary of Siam Canadian Food Co.,Ltd, was founded in 1996 with the aim to import and distribute product such as wines, German-roasted coffee beans and Italian automatic coffee machines to hotels, supermarkets, and restaurant outlets.
