The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), in collaboration with capital market alliances, holds the Young Financial Star Competition 2018 (YFS 2018) for the 16th consecutive year, aiming at grooming university-level youth for quality professionals and investors in the capital market with number of participants this year increasing to 6,677 candidates, the highest ever, from 80 universities nationwide.
SET Senior Executive Vice President Krisada Sektrakul said, "To further reinforce the firm foundation for the Thai capital market and the economy towards sustainable growth and competitiveness at international level, it's essential for us to be equipped with quality personnel in securities companies and listed companies. The YFS project, organized by SET and capital market alliances, has been participated by over 76,000 candidates over the past 16 years. It aims to provide opportunity for university students to be enhanced and upgraded in financial and investment knowledge on their career path to become quality financial professionals. YFS 2018 adds a new category called "SET Corporate Finance Star Award" – the best specialist in corporate finance, to prepare youths to enter financial analysts and investor relation professionals.
The YFS 2018 expands opportunity for youth in various provincial areas nationwide by adding two more testing centers atKasetsart University Chalermphrakiat, Sakon Nakhon province, and Rajamangala University of Technology Isan, Nakhon Rachasima province. 337 candidates from 34 universities have been screened as qualified to attend quality courses related to in-depth financial planning and investment as well as financial management and value creation investment to be trained by the country's leading experts in each field.
The contest partners include Thailand Futures Exchange pcl (TFEX), Muang Thai Life Assurance pcl, and PTT pcl. It has also been supported by Scholarship Foundation for Capital Market Development, Thai Financial Planners Association, ATI ASCO Training Institute, Association of Thai Securities Companies and Thai Listed Companies Association. The final round in search for the new generation's financial stars YFS 2018 is scheduled on July 15, 2018.
