Assoc. Prof. Kasem Choocharukul, Ph.D. (Center), Associate Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University; Dr. Alina F. Burlacu (3rd from the left), Transport Specialist of World Bank's Global Road Safety Facility; and Mr. Luke Rogers (2nd from the left),Global Operations Manager from iRAP, organized a workshop on iRAP (International Road Assessment Program) that has been globally recognized. Under the support of Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS), the workshop was targeted to relevant city officials of Traffic and Transportation Department, BMA, and Department of Rural Roads. This event was taken place at the Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University on 22-23 August 2018. The workshop content included the training on using the road inspection program and the iRAP Star Ratings assessment for four actors: drivers, motorcycle riders, bicycle riders, and pedestrians in order to assess the road safety and lead to the effective Safer Roads Investment Plans in a longer term.

Bangkok has been selected by Bloomberg Philanthropies, headquartered in New York City, USA, to be 1 of 10 cities to join Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS) for 5 years (2015-2019). Aiming to efficiently reduce road traffic injuries and deaths in Bangkok, the Initiative involves the interventions through campaigns to raise road safety awareness, such as campaigns on drunk driving, reducing speed, seatbelt, and helmet wearing as well as through the design of improving safer roads.
