The Customs Department Presents Certificates to Customs Alliance (Phase II): the Next Two Beyond

Bangkok--4 Sep--Ministry of Finance Today (Tuesday 4 September 2018) at 13.00 hrs., Mr. Kulit Sombatsiri, Director - General of the Thai Customs Department, presided over the ceremony of presenting certificates to Customs Alliance (Phase II) comprising a total of 129 companies at the Customs Hall, 1st floor, the Thai Customs Department. According to the Director-General of Customs, Thai Customs realizes that the Administration's priority function is to collaborate with business operators in order to provide them with optimum Customs service. As a result, we continued our effort in the Customs Alliance scheme to effectively enhance collaboration and partnership with the private sector, taking into account transparency, predictability and integrity to reduce transaction costs for the private sector. Under the scheme, Thai Customs offers a new communication channel between Customs and the private sectors so as to provide quick suggestions and to solve problems/minimize disputes relating to Customs clearance of goods, Customs procedure, Customs tariff, Customs valuation, rules of origin, Customs incentives, laws and regulations. Customs officers at the headquarters are also officially assigned to be the Account Officer Center (AOC) to coordinate with the Account Officer Experts (AOX) who have expertise in each area in order to promptly handle each issue for the Customs Alliance members. The program could effectively enhance our working process, reduce operations time and cost as well as ensure transparency and fairness for the business operators, taking into consideration World Customs standards. This event was held as an honor to the private sector, including our new 129 members of the Customs Alliance (Phase II). With the 325 members under Phase I, the Customs Alliance now consists of a total 454 companies. The Customs Department has managed to coordinate and resolve more than 400 cases for the members since the start of the programme. The Customs Administration is committed to continuing to contribute to both the Thai economy and the global one, trade facilitation, protection of the society as reflected clearly in the Thai Customs Department's vision - an excellent Customs service to achieve sustainable development of Thailand economy and global trade connectivity.
