Ravi Kasemsarn, President of the Thai Corrugated Packaging Association, said, "The Corrugated packaging industry has been experiencing steady growth as a result of the country's rapid transition to a digital economy. Several key factors, such as e-Commerce expansion, have led to rising corrugated packaging demand and industrial growth within the supply chain, which in turn impacts both Thailand's and ASEAN's economic growth. With ASEAN's total population estimated to be as high as 650 million, the region's market is considered to have great potential as it continues to show a steady growth trend." Pornchai Wittayakhunsakulchai, President of the Thai Pulp and Paper Industries Association (TPPIA) said, "The Pulp and paper industry is an upstream industry with a locally integrated manufacturing process and steady growth, as indicated by kraft paper production increasing follow economic growth. Meanwhile, the country's rapid transition to a digital economy is a key factor that drives the growth of e-Commerce and logistics industries. It increases online shopping trend and higher paper and packaging demand. At the same time, the industrial sector has adopted automated systems to optimize production efficiency and reduce cost. This includes producing papers for small-sized packaging or light-weighted papers with enhanced strength to minimize transportation cost." Prapaporn Narongrit, President of the Thai Screen Printing & Graphic Imaging Association, said, "Today's corrugated packaging industry entrepreneurs are focusing on creating innovative products, using eco-friendly materials, minimizing production wastes, recycling, and promoting efficient use of resources. For this reason, most corrugated packaging products in the digital 4.0 era are light weight and highly durable. These features help save transportation cost and, at the same time, better meet consumer demand to ensure sustainable growth." Jaruphun Jarayophat, Deputy Director-General, Department of Industrial Promotion (DIP), explained, "CCE South East Asia – Thailand 2018 will present an excellent opportunity for product design entrepreneurs – including related organizations, networks and supply chains – to gain packaging design knowledge from both Thai and foreign experts. The insights they learn can be utilized to improve and create new designs to further optimize the industry, driving Thailand to become the regional hub for product design. For the first time in Thailand, this year's edition features a special contest aimed at discovering the best up-and-coming packaging designers in the country. The contest is open to product designers, undergraduate students (or equivalent) from various universities nationwide, and interested participants. The contest is organized by the Thai Corrugated Packaging Association (Thai CPA) and the Thailand Industrial Design Center: Thai – IDC, and the winner will be presented with the Thai Corrugated Packaging Excellence Award 2018."
