Kasikorn Bank, Krungthai Card and Siam Commercial Bank customers with a Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa can now make secure contactless payments on the go
Fitbit (NYSE: FIT), the leading global wearables brand, announced that starting today, Fitbit Pay(TM) will be available to its customers in Thailand with a Fitbit Ionic or Fitbit Versa and starting November 2018, on its newest tracker, Fitbit Charge 3. Fitbit Pay launches in Thailand with leading financial partners, including Kasikorn Bank, Krungthai Card and Siam Commercial Bank, bringing convenience and freedom to users so they can leave their smartphone and wallet at home, and make secure purchases at stores where contactless payments are accepted.
Mr. Louis Lye, Regional Director, SEA, HK & TW said, "We are excited to launch Fitbit Pay with leading financial partners in Thailand. Fitbit Pay will provide consumers with the option of hassle-free contactless payments, which will be a step in line with the Thai government's efforts to establish a digital economy in the country. It also offers banks an exciting opportunity to engage with their customers in unique ways while supporting them on their health and fitness journeys."
Customers of Kasikorn Bank, Krungthai Card and Siam Commercial Bank can add a Visa or Mastercard credit or debit card to their Fitbit(TM) app, and use their device to make payments on the go directly from their wrist. Fitbit Pay can be easily set-up by following simple steps in the Fitbit mobile app on Android or iOS devices to add a credit or debit card to the Fitbit Wallet within the app. Making payments in stores that accept contactless payments is also very easy. Simply press and hold the left side button until the debit or credit card is seen on the smartwatch screen, and hold the watch near the payment terminal until a confirmation of payment appears on the device screen.
Fitbit Pay transactions use an industry standard tokenization platform for all transactions. User's card information is never revealed or shared with merchants or Fitbit. Plus, a PIN is chosen by the user during device set-up for an added layer of protection.
Fitbit Pay(TM) is supported by more than 100 banks and card issuers in 20 countries through American Express, Mastercard and Visa networks. Fitbit Pay will also become available on Fitbit Charge 3(TM) starting November 2018.
