Bangkok--13 Dec--Bayer Thai
As Thailand is in the transition period, science is a key tool to achieve the Thailand 4.0 vision, being the vital knowledge for the development of significant innovations and technologies that will enhance the country's competitiveness. The youth is another crucial prong as they must be encouraged to study science at young age and inspired to use their knowledge in driving the country's advancement in a solid and sustainable way.
Bayer Thai Co., Ltd., realizing the importance of awareness in science among Thai youth, signed a 3-year memorandum of understanding (2017-2019) with the National Science Museum (NSM) to implement the "Better Science for Better Life" project, to promote science learning and activities that engage students.
2018 marks the 2nd year of "Better Science for Better Life", when toolkits will be delivered to 100 schools nationwide. The first set was presented to Wat Tamru School in Samut Prakan on 6 December 2018.
Mr. Riaz Buksh, Director and General Manager for Pharmaceuticals Business of Bayer Thai Co., Ltd stated: "Bayer Thai gives importance to science as we consider science is crucial to the development of innovations and products that will improve the quality of life. We're determined to assist the improvement of science in Thailand with our scientific knowledge and expertise, particularly through our sustainability-oriented activities. The "Better Science for Better Life" project in collaboration with NSM is another activity that ably helps improve science learning among Thai youth, to raise awareness and inspire children to obtain scientific knowledge. The project can also enhance students' experience through creative scientific experiments. Importantly, this project clearly reflects our organization's mission "Science for a Better Life"."
Asst. Prof. Dr. Rawin Rawiwong, President of the National Science Museum, added: "The collaboration of NSM and Bayer Thai aims to spark students' interest in out-of-classroom science learning, through the materials that can inspire learning and promote creativity. The project will also extend science learning opportunities to students nationwide through the toolkits that will be presented to 100 schools and other activities as part of a science caravan to provinces. These activities will help enhance students' interest and enthusiasm in science learning at young age. They can pursue studies in science and earn a living in science-related fields."
"Better Science for Better Life" kicked off in 2017 to promote creative science learning. The Better Science for Better Life toolkits were given to schools nationwide, bringing benefits to over 1,000 students and teachers.

About National Science Museum
The National Science Museum, Thailand (NSM) under the Ministry of Science and Technology, is tasked mainly to promote knowledge and understanding in science and technology among youth and the general public through exhibitions and learning activities. NSM has provided a science learning hub since 2000, opening the first science museum at Tambon Khlong 5, Khlong Luang district, Pathum Thani province. It is engaged in educating youth and the general public in the importance of science in every day's life. NSM's operations have received positive responses from youth and instructors both in Bangkok and provinces.
However, a large number of students remain unable to visit the museum or join its activities. Seeing the need to expand learning opportunities, NSM initiated "Science Caravan", a mobile science museum that journeys to provinces. Through collaboration with local organizations such as schools, universities, local administrative offices and etc, the caravan presents a mobile science exhibition, science shows and science games and inventions, to improve thinking skills and learning via experimentation. Science knowledge is presented in simple and entertaining formats, to support self-learning which will raise students' enthusiasm in science learning and guide them towards learning targets.
