SET has announced the annual social development awards recognizing individuals and organizations who dedicate their efforts to enhance the society in the developments of music, urban and education.
SET Senior Executive Vice President Krisada Sektrakul stated that SET is committed and dedicated to supporting and encouraging citizens who have substantially contributed to a better society, being role models in creating benefits to community dwellers and society as a whole.
The music encouragement award, nominated by the Sugree Charoensook Foundation, was granted to Anchalee Mekwiboon from Bantherdthai School, Chiang Rai province. The education development award, selected by the Professor Sangvien Indaravijaya Foundation, was granted to Kanya Sombun from Pangmapha Pittayasan, Mae Hong Son province. The urban development awards, selected by the Vimuttayalaya Foundation, was granted to "James Khanna Thong Kham Organic Farm" project founded by Taweepong Inwongsakul, as well as the "Phi Sangsan Nong Sangsihn" project founded by Chayanon Panyathiraphong.
Sugree Charoensook, Chairman, Sugree Charoensook Foundation said the winner in music encouragement this year, Anchalee Mekwiboon, a good music teacher, has applied music as an educational tool by initiating an ethnic choir, while instilling nationalization awareness among the tribal students in the mountainous area in northern Thailand. To her, music has no boundary and is accessible by every child regardless of race, nationality or class. We truly appreciate SET's endeavor in setting up these social development awards which integrated music as a tool to connect society with good deeds.
Venerable V. Vajiramedhi, Chairman, Vimuttayalaya Foundation said that the two awards granted in this category this year will encourage and motivate the persons who have contributed good deeds to further enhance for the lives of the people in the community. The first one recognizes 'James Kanna Thong Kham' project, based on the Buddhist-inspired organic agriculture principle. This project was inspired by Taweepong Inwongsakul who pioneeredBuddhist economics theory and also applied the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej's sufficiency economy philosophy into a unique learning center. The second award was granted to the "Phi Sangsan Nong Sangsihn" project, founded by Chayanon Panyathiraphong, which instills the awareness of local arts and culture, while grooming the youth to grow up with right ethical mindset, be generous and love their homeland.
Surapoch Suwonpanich, Chairman, The Professor Sangvien Indaravijaya Foundation said that in line with the foundation's mission to recognize organizations or individuals who make substantial contribution in education development, Kanya Sombun was nominated for this category as her dedication played an important role was fruitful in developing schools in remote areas, turning around a troubled school into a drug-free community with sufficiency philosophy learning mindset.
