In a wide-ranging fireside chat, Jack discussed his own entrepreneurial journey and highlighted the role that technology companies can play in solving problems, stating that Alibaba has "created close to 40 million jobs directly and indirectly in China. Everything we innovate is to enable others to succeed – to make it easy for small businesses to do business." Jack also noted that technology can have a significant positive impact on the world, and that tech companies have a responsibility to help ensure that impact. Alibaba's philanthropy report published Thursday noted that in Fiscal Year 2019, the Alibaba ecosystem helped charitable organizations raise RMB 1.27 billion or THB 5.86 billion, enabled 440 million users to get involved in philanthropic projects and supported 9.1 billion donations. While in Paris, Jack also attended the Tech for Good Summit, hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron at Élysee Palace.
