The Effective Speed Management and Enforcement for the Bangkok Traffic Police

Bangkok--28 May--Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety Mr. Marcin Flieger (Center) and Ms. Cessie Petchi (2nd Right) from the Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP) under the Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS) conducted a full-day Speed Enforcement Training to 20 traffic police officers from the 2 local police stations in Bangkok: Ladkrabang and Jorrakae Noi. The training covered both theoretical and practical aspects including speeding as a risk factor, the speed enforcement (tactics and techniques, strategy, type of speed enforcement, speed problem identification, enforcement planning, checkpoint setting, interception safety procedures, data-led enforcement, etc.). The last session was the demonstration of speed detection device in site About Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS) - Bangkok Bangkok has been selected by Bloomberg Philanthropies, headquartered in New York City, USA, to be 1 of 10 cities to join Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS) for 5 years (2015-2019). Aiming to efficiently reduce road traffic injuries and deaths in Bangkok, the Initiative involves the interventions through campaigns to raise road safety awareness, such as campaigns on drunk driving, reducing speed, seatbelt, and helmet wearing as well as through the design of improving safer roads.
