Jetts 24 Hour Fitness has launched a new club in Nakhon Ratchasima at the Terminal 21 Korat shopping mall in an effort to bring its trademark round-the-clock "workout on your terms" fitness solutions to more consumers in Thailand.
The new club is in line with Jetts' ambition to further expand its portfolio as an unrivalled fitness chain in the country. By opening a new club in one of the most important economic centers in the northeastern region, the company is targeting a whole new region for growth.
The new club in Nakhon Ratchasima marks Jetts' second expansion outside Bangkok, following its recent openings of two new clubs in the resort town of Pattaya. It is part of a plan for Jetts to have two dozen clubs up and running in Bangkok and regional provinces by the end of 2019.
Mike David Lamb, Asia CEO of Jetts 24 Hour Fitness, says the company has decided to launch a new club in Nakhon Ratchasima for several reasons. "Not only do we want to support the economy by expanding our investment to regional provinces, but we would also like to pursue our goal of providing different groups of people in different regions with the most optimized gym experience every day," Lamb said.
"Nakhon Ratchasima is now our gateway to Isaan because it is an important center in the region in terms of its economy and tourism," he added. "It is also Thailand's largest province in terms of land area size with a population of about 2.7 million who produce the highest GDP in Isaan. This is why we have allocated 40 million baht to open our first club there.The club has an area of 680 sqm inside Terminal 21 Korat, the biggest shopping mall in the province. We are actively looking for a second location in the area as we consider this an exciting part of our expansion plan.
"Given that Nakhon Ratchasima is an economic center and a vibrant city with so much going on, we are confident that it is a great business opportunity to help Jetts to achieve our target of securing 25,000 members by the end of 2019," Lamb said. "Jetts will also continue to open new clubs in Bangkok and regional provinces with an 5 additional sites already secured".
Wichien Chantharanothai, governor of Nakhon Ratchasima, says he welcomes the opening of the new fitness club in the province. "Nakhon Ratchasima, or Korat as people in Thailand mostly call it, is one of the fastest-growing provinces in the northeastern region and the government wants to promote the growth of Korat's economy and investment in the province.
"We would also like to see our residents have great health," Wichien added. It is the government's intention to encourage people in Korat to be a center for different kinds of sport. To have a new club of Jetts 24 Hour Fitness opened here, I am delighted that Korat residents as well as residents from neighboring provinces will now have the opportunity to stay fit by exercising on their terms at whatever time they want."
