Bangkok--3 Jul--Francom Asia Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology solutions provider, has just announced its cooperation with HIP Global Co., Ltd. and Axis (Thailand) to release student care solution with NB-IoT Tracker, an innovative solution that connects the GPS tracking system through the NB-IoT (Narrow-band IoT) network, providing a safe tracking and security system for schoolchildren for Municipal School 1,3,4,5, Surat Thani. NB-IoT is pre-5G technology and provide nationwide coverage in Thailand. NB-IoT tracker can track live the exact location on campus of any student at any given time, or between home and school. It can also be used as an automatic attendance recorder, and help teachers locate a student who is already present in the school grounds but has yet to report in. Moreover, by comparing real-time location information of the student and his assigned school bus, the system can indicate if the pick-up or drop-off to the destination went smoothly. In case of any abnormal situation or discrepancy based on location and time settings, the parents, guardians, bus or van drivers and school authorities will immediately receive an alert. "As an international enterprise that follows the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Huawei would like to give back to society through meaningful CSR initiatives. We are cooperating with HIP Global and Axis to develop and promote the leading NB-IoT solution that addresses the safety, health and well-being of Thai schoolchildren," said Mr Thomas Zhou Zhen, Huawei Director of Public Relations, Southeast Asia. "It is important for us to bring innovative solutions to create a better life for vulnerable groups in society. I would like to thank our partners for their engagement in this project that we hope to launch on a nationwide scale in the near future." Children can be left accidentally in cars or school buses and vans, and the consequences can be devastating and tragic. Fourteen such cases were reported in Thailand from 2012 to 2016, and this co-developed solution will help ensure that this does not happen again. Mrs Phiphit Wattanaverachai, Deputy Mayor of Surat Thani said "We are proud to host this pioneer project that can save lives. This tracking platform for safety and security using Huawei technology is a boost to our province's desire to be part of the government's Thailand 4.0 and Smart City initiatives." The pilot project will involve 120 students who are currently enrolled in Municipal School 1,3,4,5. Each one will be provided with an individual chip that transmits the given location via the GPS tracker provided by Axis, and the device produced by HIP Global. The innovative system will be connected via Huawei's NB-IoT solution, to enable discreet, round-the-clock tracking. Axis iCare can save lives, avert dangerous situations and reduce stress for family members and school authorities who care about the safety of their children.
