Bangkok--22 Aug--Bangkok Bank Caltex in collaboration with Bangkok Bank offers the new payment system with Wireless Electronic Data Capture (Wireless EDC) technology for faster, more convenient and secure services at Caltex fuel service stations nationwide. Caltex is the first fuel brand in Thailand to activate such payment service to cover its nationwide retail network catering to the new digital consumer lifestyle in line with the government's "National E-Payment" policy. During the press briefing, Mr. Salman Saadat, Country Chairman and General Manager - Products, Chevron (Thailand) Limited explained that the company in partnership with Bangkok Bank had piloted the offering of payment system with wireless electronic capture (Wireless EDC) at selected Caltex fuel service stations during the end of 2018 which has gained a very positive feedback from the motorists. Such payment service offer has gradually been expanded to cover the network throughout Thailand to facilitate and enhance the motorists experience at Caltex service stations. With this convenient payment system service, the customer can complete re-fueling and payment faster. After re-fueling, the forecourt attendant will use Wireless EDC device to process the payment with card either by scanning or putting the card in the slot. The re-fueling amount will appear on the device monitor for the motorist to check if the amount is correct before confirming the payment. The payment conveniently and securely lessens the service time. In addition, through this system, customers can also accumulate their loyalty program points such as TrueYou or The1 Card in the same process. "During the past months, Caltex has cooperated with Bangkok Bank in developing the new payment system as well as providing the trainings for the forecourt attendants to educate and familiarize them with using Wireless EDC device. At present, we have already expanded this payment system to cover our Caltex fuel service stations throughout the country. Caltex is considered to be the first fuel retail brand to offer payment system service with wireless EDC for its nationwide network. This Wireless EDC technology will also make our stations ready to accommodate QR code payment and others in the future. This important cooperation is another milestone of our successful partnership to enhance the motorists' driving experience. Moreover, this initiative is part of our "Smart Platform" strategy under "Smart Value for All" growth vision to drive and sustain our business growth in parallel with our commitment to develop and offer excellent fuel products and services. Wireless EDC payment launch is in line with the evolving digital trend towards cashless society under government's "Thailand4.0" policy", added Mr. Salman Saadat. Mr. Shoke Na Ranong, Bangkok Bank's Executive Vice President of Credit Card Division, said "Bangkok Bank is committed to promote effective "National E-Payment" in Thailand. This cooperation is regarded as an important development between Bangkok Bank and Caltex. For Caltex to be the first fuel brand in Thailand to activate the payment system with Wireless EDC throughout its retail network helps reinforce our mutual commitment to develop innovative products and services to enhance our customers' experiences while answering to the requirements of quick and convenient transactions as it lessens the processing steps and service time. At the same time, it helps reduce the problem of carrying cash as well as cash management. The most important thing is that we can cater to the current consumer behavior trend that prefers e-banking than cash payment. In addition, the system can work together with the customers' loyal programs which proves that the system has been developed with the understanding of real customers' needs." "We have continuously studied the customers' behaviors and requirements together so as to develop new service that serve the customers' requirements and create impressive experience for our customers. After the trial run of payment system with wireless EDC in selected Caltex fuel service station and found that the customers' feedback was very positive, we have gradually expanded the service to cover the nationwide network accommodating electronics card payment both contactless and card slot. We are now working to accommodate more payment options such as QR Code, PromptPay and E-Wallet in the near future." Apart from the mentioned payment systems, Bangkok Bank has cooperated with Caltex in the development of products and privileges for both our customers such as BBL-Caltex Fleet Card and BBL-Caltex Cash Card which are the options for corporate clients in effectively managing their fuel expenses. Both options have gained a very good response from the market. So far, we have issued more than 100,000 cards. At the same time, we have continued to come up with attractive promotions for our customers. Currently, the customers who refill their tanks at Caltex fuel service stations and pay with Bangkok Bank Infinite Card will receive 10% cash back while Platinum and Titanium card holders will receive 3 % cash back and 2% for other BBL card holders. The promotion is well received by our card holders. "Consumers nowadays prefer e-payment options. Such payment becomes part of the consumers' lifestyle which is apparent in the massive increase in our e-payment transactions of over 110%. We anticipate that it will continue to grow. So, the development of Wireless EDC payment system will complement to the growth of e-payment transaction numbers as it can effective serve the consumers in term of convenience, fastness and confidence in payment security.
