Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok challenges all stairs racers to join "Vertical Run 2019", to race up the 25-storey Shangri-La Wing to raise funds for Operation Smile Thailand. This year's race will take place on Saturday 5 October 2019, from 7 a.m. to 11.30 a.m.
After the success of the 2014 and 2018 races, the "Vertical Run 2019" returns to dare runners to break the 2018 winning records of 3.03 minutes for the male category and 5.07 minutes for the female category. Challengers are invited to race up 494 steps or a height of 90.6 metres to reach the top of Shangri-La Wing, where they can breathe in the magnificent view of the "River of Kings".
A well-known Thai–American actress and model, Ms. Taya Rogers, will join this year's charity race as the Operation Smile Thailand Brand Ambassador. She is globally recognised for her leading role in a music video, 'The Great Escape', by American iconic rock band Boys Like Girls in 2009. She has been a famous model, film actress and TV host in Thailand, Singapore and the USA since 1998.
All racers may join the event with an entry fee of THB 500 net per person and will receive the Shangri-La Vertical Run T-shirt and race bib. There will be trophies and dining vouchers for the champions. All proceeds after expenses will be donated to Operation Smile Thailand in order to aid children suffering from cleft lips and/or cleft palates.
