As the world is calling for unity, transparency and safety in the digital world, Huawei Technologies has joined the Paris Call, a declaration in favor of the development of common principles for securing digital products and systems.
Launched by the French government in 2018, this high-level declaration is committed to drive collective action to tackle one of the world's most challenging issues — cybercrime. As a Paris Call member, Huawei joined 564 other entities who have declared their commitment to work collaboratively to make digital products more secure and pledged to adhere to international norms of responsible behavior in cyber space.
Huawei's answer to this call is a part of its continued efforts to demonstrate the firm's commitment to expanding and refining a robust compliance system to ensure it abides by all applicable laws and regulations in the countries where it operates. Prior to signing this agreement, Huawei CEO and founder Ren Zhengfei has declared in July to Italian newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore his company's willingness to sign a "no-backdoor" agreement with any country.
"As far as we are concerned, we can sign a 'no-backdoor' agreement with any country," Ren Zhengfei said in the interview.
As a leading provider of information and communications technology, security and user privacy are the foundation of Huawei's existence. The firm invests heavily in research aimed at making the products and solutions as secure as possible and will invest USD 2 billion (THB61 billion), over the next five years, to further enhance the security of the products and services globally.
