Bangkok--15 Nov--Spark Communications Dyson introduced the new Dyson Pure Cryptomic TM purifying fans in Singapore. Pioneered by Dyson's chemists and engineers, this revolutionary Dyson Cryptomic TM technology destroys formaldehyde continuously 1 at a molecular level transforming this potentially harmful gas into small amounts of water and Carbon Dioxide. Charlie Park, Global Category Director for Environmental Care, said: "Harnessing Dyson's expertise in chemistry, sensing, filtration and fluid dynamics, Dyson Pure Cryptomic TM machines are engineered to be the total air purification solution for your home - removing ultra-fine particles 2 , odours, gases and destroying formaldehyde, continuously 1 . " Indoor generation Every day we can breathe in up to 9,000 litres of air 3 . Living in the era of the "indoor generation", we are breathing in more pollutants indoors as we are spending up to 90% of our time behind closed doors 4 . Indoor pollution can come from outside when we open the windows or doors, but it can also be produced from everyday activities in our home. Plants, cooking, domestic heating units, and pets can give off particulate matters, while cleaning products, nail polishes and scented candles can emit Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). - Formaldehyde can keep polluting for over a year Many everyday household items can emit formaldehyde, including pressed wood products, antiseptics and cleaning agents, carpets, permanent press fabrics, cigarettes, cosmetics, paints and varnishes. However, formaldehyde off-gassing is not a one off problem. Many household items continue to give off formaldehyde for a long period of time 5 . A Chinese study reveals formaldehyde off-gassing can last between 3 years to 15 years. 4 Dr Nathan Brown, Head of Research for Environmental Care, said: "Formaldehyde is 500 times smaller than PM0.1, and it is particularly difficult to capture. Our chemist team has been searching for various methods to solve this problem since 2016. We have tested more than 20 different catalysts before identifying Cryptomelane. Our obsessive approach to engineering has led us to take a different approach. " The new Dyson Pure Cryptomic TM purifying fans automatically sense the indoor air pollution and activate the machine to purify throughout the whole room, capturing 99.95% of ultrafine particles 2 and destroying formaldehyde continuously 1 - Sensing An LCD display shows which particles and gases the Dyson Pure Cryptomic TM machines are automatically sensing in real time. A unique Dyson algorithm processes the input from three sensors and then displays air quality readings in real time. Lasers measure and detect ultrafine particles. A separate sensor detects the amount of VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) such as formaldehyde, benzene, and Nitrogen Dioxide. A third sensor measures relative humidity and temperature. - Capturing Nine metres of condensed and sealed borosilicate microfiber filters capture gases and 99.95% of particle pollutants 6 , including allergens, bacteria, pollen and mould spores. Activated carbon filters, remove odours, domestic fumes and gases including Nitrogen Dioxide and Benzene 7 - Destroying The new Dyson Cryptomic TM technology has a unique catalytic coating, with the same structure as the Cryptomelane mineral. Its billions of atom-sized tunnels are the optimal size and shape to trap and destroy formaldehyde, breaking it down into tiny amounts of water and CO2. Formaldehyde is colourless, yet a potentially harmful gas with high reactive properties. To enable the engineering team to challenge the continuous performance of the new Dyson Cryptomic TM technology, Dyson invested GBP1million into building the Priestley Lab in Malmesbury, U.K.. This state of the art testing facility is equipped with 10 highly sensitive gas detectors which are able to pick up 19 different hazardous gases, including Formaldehyde, Nitrogen Dioxide and Ammonia. To ensure that the catalytic oxidation of formaldehyde is safe and robust in the lab as well as in your home, our team of chemists went beyond industry standards and conducted 50 individual tests with different chemical combinations and thermal conditions. The chemicals combinations were deliberately selected to be representative of 200 common indoor air pollutants. - Projecting Equipped with Air Multiplier(TM) technology and 350? degree oscillation, Dyson Pure Cryptomic TM purifying fans project 290 litres of purified air per second to every corner of the room 9 . - Fan mode In fan mode a baffle stays in place to deliver a powerful, frontward stream of purified air. This can cool you down while purifying the room. - Diffused mode The baffle moves to block the front aperture, diverting air through the rear of the annular loop at a 45? angle. Because the aperture is wider, this creates a more diffused airflow, uses less energy and generates less noise. And purification effectiveness is maintained, without the cooling airflow. Dyson Link app: Available for iOS and Android, the Dyson Link app enables you to track indoor and outdoor pollution, temperature and humidity levels. You can also use it to control your machine and see how many hours of filter life you have left 10 . The machines come with full Over the Air Update Capability (OTA) – meaning Dyson owners can continue to get the most advanced Dyson software even after purchasing the machine. - Engineered for real homes Dyson purifying fans are designed to work in real homes. Some manufacturers of conventional air purifiers gauge their performance using a laboratory test method called 'Clean Air Delivery Rate'. It is conducted in a compact chamber just 30m 3 in size, with an added fan to circulate the air - and only one sensor to measure air quality. It is not representative of the average living room environment.
