The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), in collaboration with the College of Music, Mahidol University, has awarded scholarships worth a combined THB 1.8 million (approx. USD 60,000) to winners of the 22nd SET Youth Music Competition for their outstanding performance, participated by 562 young musicians this year.
SET President Pakorn Peetathawatchai said that it's a pleasure to see the increasing number of interested participants, this year reaching an all-time record high of 562 young musicians from all corners of the country after expanding the promotion through music networks, digital media channels in regional areas. All contestants are talented, dedicated and determined, with disciplined practices to ensure perfect performance. This stage provides them with opportunities to showcase their creative talents and sharpen their musical skills to level up to the national and international arenas. In addition to enhancing the youth's savings and financial management knowledge, SET also makes it worthwhile in the perspective of developing young talents, in accordance with SET's vision 'To Make the Capital Market Work for Everyone'.
Narong Prangcharoen, Dean of the College of Music, Mahidol University, said that music creates not only happiness but also inspiration and life goals. SET Youth Music Competition is substantially like a platform or training course for the youth to train themselves in setting goals of life. These skills will be helpful in enhancing career potential and happy living in today's modern lifestyle. It's valuable that the integrated efforts of SET and Mahidol University can continue to make their dreams come true and benefit the society as a whole.
A list of the gold medal winners of the 22nd SET Youth Music Competition is as follows:
- Primary school Pasit Wattanalekhawong (Piano), Shrewsbury international school
- Junior high school Kanyanat Sawatwong (Wot), Marie Kaengkhro School
- High school Nonthapat Chaiviratnukul (Alto Saxophone), College of Music Mahidol University
- Undergraduate Nitcha Pitayathon (Soprano Saxophone, College of Music Mahidol University
The gold medalists received scholarships to pursue their studies at the College of Music, Mahidol University.
The honorary panel of judges for the final round consisted of Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul, Dr. Varavudh Sumawong, Naovarat Pongpaiboon, Dr. Tanis Sriglindee, Pratak Faisupagarn, Nitipong Honark, Pongprom Sanitwong Na Ayuthaya, Captain Pasakorn Suwanaphan, Colonel Prateep Suphanrojn, Kreingkrai Kanjanapokin, Dr. Narong Prangcharoen.
