Shopee, the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan, launches #ShopeeTogether, a program focused on providing support for Thai communities affected by the COVID-19 outbreak. #ShopeeTogether features a series of support measures for various local Thai communities including medical frontliners, SMEs and sellers as well as online shoppers.
Suchaya Paleewong, Marketing Manager at Shopee Thailand said, “As a company that is committed to using technology to improve the lives of Thai people, we are determined to step up our efforts to support the various Thai communities most affected by this COVID-19 outbreak. This includes supporting our frontline heroes who are working hard to combat this pandemic, relief efforts for local SMEs and sellers whose businesses may have been affected, as well as adapting our business operations and in-app campaigns to ensure that our shoppers still can get convenient and affordable access to what they need.”
ShopeeTogether serves to achieve 3 key objectives:
1) Giving back to Thai communities, including medical frontliners
Shopee recognises the importance of helping one another and giving back to our society especially in this crucial period. As part of the #ShopeeTogether program, we introduced special initiatives to support local Thai communities including:
- ShopeeForHeroes: To show appreciation and gratitude for the dedicated effort and hard work of Thailand’s frontline heroes in battling the COVID-19 pandemic, Shopee ran a campaign to give away shopping vouchers to medical personnel.
- Rama Foundation e-donation: Shopee partnered with Rama Foundation to provide Thais from across the country a platform to step forward and make a contribution to those in need. Users can log on to the Rama Foundation Official Store on the Shopee platform to purchase e-donation voucher coupons from now until 31 May 2020. All proceeds will go towards the purchase of medical equipment and supplies.
2) Supporting Thai sellers and SMEs through this period
Shopee will be launching an e-learning platform for its popular Shopee Bootcamp and Shopee University program, starting from 15 April onwards. These e-learning platform aims to help Thai SMEs and sellers who are new to or have little experience in e-commerce, to diversify their revenue streams beyond the traditional bricks-and-mortar model by equipping them with easy access to basic skills and knowledge to start an online business, which is especially relevant amidst this COVID-19 situation. It also serves to support existing SMEs and sellers who are looking to upgrade their skill sets and grow their online business. SMEs and sellers can easily access these online courses from the comfort of their homes and at any time.
In addition, Shopee also joined hands with leading industry players to provide financial relief to sellers, either to grow their online businesses further or to help them tide through this difficult period:
- Kbank digital loan for online business ?: Shopee sellers can conveniently apply for a loan with a few swipes via the Shopee platform without submitting any physical documents. They are also able to take up loans up to 600,000 THB.
- Thailand Post: Shopee has collaborated with Thailand’s leading logistics player to offer special shipping subsidies and aid on daily necessity products, in order to help reduce sellers’ operational costs, and encourage more consumers to purchase from them online, starting from 10 April to 10 May 2020.
3) Providing shoppers from all across Thailand convenient and affordable access to necessities from their homes
- Extended #ShopeeFromHome campaign: As part of the #ShopeeTogether program, Shopee has also extended its ongoing #ShopeeFromHome campaign that rolls out from today till 29 April. #ShopeeFromHome serves to provide Thai shoppers convenient and affordable access to their shopping necessities from their homes, in line with the increased social distancing and precautionary measures imposed by the government.
