Bangkok--13 Apr--Triple T Broadband
In the time of the Covid-19 crisis, 3BB customers can still use broadband internet as efficiently as usual despite the surging internet traffic caused by heavy use at night. Recently, internet use during the day increased by around 20%. This is why 3BB are doing our best to manage the network to ensure fast and continuous internet connection by expanding the bandwidth, monitoring the network, and preparing for incidents. Our teams of engineers and technicians are on standby 24 hours in every province to help everyone get through these challenging times together.
Here are some tips to better use Wi-Fi at home:
Router
Location of the router: Router should be positioned in a high space to help transmit a radio signal and reduce interference. The router should be placed in the middle of the house such as in the living room or near an area where everyone uses Wi-Fi the most. Also, the router should not be placed against the wall, in the blind corner, or in an area with solid walls or glasses. The best place for a router is within five meters without obstructions.Make sure that there is no cloth or other object blocking the router’s heat output.Switch off the router when not in use or once a day.If PON light flickers or LOS red light is on, please contact Call Center 1530 immediately.
When to use 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wi-Fi
Generally, you should choose 5GHz first since it is faster with lesser chance to be interfered by other signals than 2GHz. However, 2GHz can reach farther than 5GHz. In areas far from the router such as rooms on the second and third floors, 2.4 GHz is a better option. If switching the frequency does not seem to improve your Wi-Fi signal, we recommend using Smart Mesh Wi-Fi to increase coverage in your house. With Smart Mesh Wi-Fi, you will have two access points. No need to worry about blind spots or weak internet connection in areas far from the router. Smart Mesh Wi-Fi ensures steady and fast internet no matter where you are in the house.
How to reduce wireless interference
Other electrical machines such as microwave oven and bluetooth devices also use the 2.4 GHz frequency. In order to prevent interference, it is better to position a Wi-Fi router as far as possible from such equipment or choose 5GHz instead.
Check your security settingsAnother reason that your internet connection is slow is an inefficient safety system that allows strangers to share your bandwidth. We highly recommend you set your Wi-Fi password appropriately or change it from time to time.
