With countries on near-total lockdown to protect their citizens from the spread of Covid-19, the gears of global commerce have threatened to completely seize up in recent weeks. And yet, in the midst of the pandemic, a new wave of innovation and creative strategies from entrepreneurs to provide safe, timely and effective solutions has emerged.
As a group with over 30 business units and a global footprint, Alibaba hasn’t been spared from the impact of the virus. But early on, Alibaba made swift and bold decisions to protect and help employees, merchants and companies doing business on its platforms. Alibaba rolled out a series of financial measures and digital tools to mitigate the damage and disruption to the millions of small and medium-sized enterprises that are its lifeblood. Alibaba’s technology and digital know-how have also provided medical professionals with an edge in their fight against the pandemic.
To help and offer some hope to businesses, leaders and entrepreneurs around the world, the Alibaba Business School has compiled key discoveries and learnings from the group in a 115-page handbook – “Digital Action for Entrepreneur in the Age of Covid-19”. The handbook aims to be a reference guide to successfully navigate through these turbulent times.
Offering insightful anecdotes from Alibaba business units such as Cainiao, Lazada, Alibaba Cloud, Fliggy, Ant Financial, Tmall and Taobao, the handbook shares the actions and rationale behind major projects and initiatives launched during the pandemic. Drawing from Alibaba’s own experience, the handbook also reflects on the foundation Alibaba built two decades ago that has kept the company buoyant and its leaders anchored in the past and ready for all future crises.
Each company is unique, and not all battles are the same, but the spirit of entrepreneurship and the desire to innovate power the shared global economy. The handbook is intended to inspire creativity and ingenuity so each leader can find solutions to tackle any challenges they face.
