This year, Thai agriculture has faced two enormous challenges in the new corona virus (COVID-19) and a severe drought that has gripped much of the country. The impact of the corona virus together with the challenges of coping with a changeable climate had brought home the reality that it is important to pay close attention to managing agricultural products to meet market needs. A shift to modern, large-scale farming is essential to the sustainability of Thailand’s food security.
Yanmar is committed to achieving “Sustainable Agriculture” in order to boost profits for farmers while simultaneously focusing on the reduction of environmental impacts. With these goals in mind, Yanmar has developed “SMARTASSIST-Remote” (SA-R), an innovative farming management technology system to accelerate Thailand’s agricultural sector toward modern farming. With SA-R, Yanmar will support Thai farmers not only with agricultural machinery, but farmers will also be able to manage their agriculture with precision, for high-quality produce, increased productivity, reduced costs and a better quality of life.
YANMAR S.P. Co., Ltd has previously introduced the SA-R system to Thailand to enable users to check the working status of their machinery and receive important notifications and warnings, to reduce the chance of machinery downtime. The system is fully functional on mobile platforms and Farmers can carry out regular monitoring of machinery, set out accurate and specific working plans and receive notifications to their mobile device if their equipment leaves its pre-set location.
The SA-R system’s advanced features allow farmers to track the location of the machines in operation and receiving notifications of any usual activities such as high operating temperatures or abnormal status. If the status of the machinery deviates from preset parameters, the system will send notifications to users to avoid possible damage from operation. In addition, in order to prevent theft, the system will notify users if the equipment leaves a designated area or operates outside a designated work period. The system also allows users to easily manage large farms by providing a wide range of management information including the machine’s working status, operating times and fuel usage amounts. Farmers can use the data for farm management planning, setting ranges of operation per rai, or measuring the areas for work quality evaluation.
Yanmar’s agricultural machinery equipped with SA-R system include rice harvesters, sugarcane harvesters, Yanmar excavators and the new YM tractor series (51 and 57 hp) and EF725T tractors (72 hp) allowing farmers to remotely monitor their equipment and keep daily work logs for expenses calculation and accurate work planning.
As well as implementing SA-R extensively in the agricultural sector, Yanmar has also deployed the technology to other industrial machinery such as construction equipment, marine and other related equipment industries. Farmers who are interested in Yanmar products can contact local distributors or call 1638 for more information.
