SIG launches Growing Green program to raise awareness for the recycling of used beverage cartons

ข่าวเศรษฐกิจ Wednesday October 28, 2020 10:12 —PRESS RELEASE LOCAL

SIG, a leading systems and solutions provider for aseptic carton packaging, and the first manufacturer of aseptic cartons in Thailand being certified with Carbon Footprint Reduction Label (Gold Label), is committed to becoming an increasingly sustainable business. The company has recently joined hands with five of its major partners ? CP. Poly-Industry Company Limited, Trash Lucky Co., Ltd., Advanced Mat Co., Ltd., Min Sen Machinery Co., Ltd, and youths from the Keep2Share Group ? and the pilot school Bangkok International Preparatory and Secondary in signing an agreement to collaborate in the promotion of greater understanding and awareness toward the full recycling of used beverage cartons in order to reduce waste in communities and the environment.

Besides, this program is the first of its kind in Thailand that has set out students in international schools as its primary target. Starting off with Bangkok International Preparatory and Secondary as its pilot school, the Growing Green program will expand to eventually include ten international schools in Bangkok within one year - from October 2020 to November 2021.

Growing Green is a program that SIG Thailand is working on in close collaboration with our partners and younger generations to promote a greater understanding that after use, used beverage cartons can go through a full cycle of recycling. When the cartons are collected and sorted out correctly under this program, they are turned into new products of great use: small vegetable gardens given to schools in need, thereby enabling them to provide their students with more food ? for instance.

Vatcharapong Ungsrisawasdi, Country Manager at SIG Thailand: "This program focuses on raising such an understanding among students and younger generations, as well as their teachers, parents, and communities, which is in line with SIG?s Way Beyond Good approach that aims for environmental sustainability - one that the company always contributes to while running its business. Also, this is the first time that the Growing Green program has been launched at international schools in Bangkok, with Bangkok International Preparatory and Secondary being the first to take action in raising greater awareness toward the importance of sorting waste by educating the students and, in particular, used beverage cartons that can be turned into useful products."

Growing Green is operated under the cooperation between SIG and its partners from various sections throughout the entire cycle of recycling from collection and transport of the used beverage cartons to the application of research and development in making new products and to the distribution of the new products to underprivileged schools and communities in need. Its objectives are to support international schools that have emphasized the importance of environmental sustainability and to promote the concept of 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) among the students as well as their parents and communities. SIG is committed to become net-positive by contributing more to society and environment than it takes across the entire value chain and to ensuring that all its factories and products are proven sustainability across the entire life cycle.

For interested international schools, please contact Trash Lucky within December 15 via call (092-469-4601), email ([email protected]), or LINE application (@trashlucky). The participation is free of charge.
