depa Presents Prime Minister Potential 5G-Based Digital Solutions
Developed by Digital Startups

The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES) and the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa) led digital startups in meeting with the Prime Minister to present digital solutions and services ever developed to support business management and improve the quality of life of people through the use of 5G technology.

Mr. Buddhipongse Punnakanta, Minister of Digital Economy and Society (MDES), together with Dr. Nuttapon Nimmanphatcharin, President/CEO of the depa, and a group of depa's senior executives, led two Thai digital startups Infofed Co., Ltd (Infofed) and Energy Response (ENRES) in presenting the digital solutions under the "Digital Services Empowered by 5G Technology" concept before Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha and Interior Minister prior to attending the cabinet meeting at Santi Maitree Building, the Government House. The MDES and the depa provided details about advantages and functionalities of digital solutions and services developed to facilitate business operations and managements and to improve the quality of life of people using the 5G technology.

Mr. Buddhipongse said the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has led to changes in consumer behavior as the online world is increasingly playing a crucial role in dictating the way of life, livelihoods of people and business directions, particularly the impact on businesses related to hosting seminars and events, in which they have to adopt digital technologies to hold virtual events in order to sustain the business operation. It is expected that the virtual event will become a new normal part of running the business. The strong point of the virtual event is that it helps with reducing operating costs and time as well as the travel costs of all participants as it has no limitation or problem regarding the venues.

Infofed is the provider of virtual live streaming services via the VOOVAM platform and it is compatible with all systems and other video and web conferencing platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Team and Cisco BlueJeans. The digital startup showed the prime minister with a variety of digital solutions and services, including virtual live streaming event and the ability to connect the traditionally physical event with live streaming to create a more efficient, enticing virtual event. Infofed also demonstrated how to reach out to audiences using Webinar, an online seminar that is capable of reaching out to target group of audiences with unlimited participant counts via the end-to-end live streaming.

Moreover, Infofed also provides a magnitude of digital services related to the virtual press conference, hosting comprehensive virtual events through using the augmented reality (AR) virtual commerce, driving sales revenue of e-commerce businesses by connecting with e-commerce solutions. There are also digital services related to virtual learning created to support education to provide unlimited access to other communities as well as virtual internal conferences. They can be customized and adjusted to seamlessly sync with any communication and conferencing platforms of businesses. It is a strategically important tool to allow all employees to stay connected and enhance employee engagement and accessibility.

Dr. Nuttapon said the virtual live streaming service would be more stable if it is empowered by the 5G technology as it has faster speeds in data transmission with lower latency. The 5G technology also enables high-definition live streaming from anywhere, helping to raise the standard of leveraging the augmented reality and virtual reality for more appealing and fascinating events in order to enhance audience engagement.

One of the digital startups that stand to reap the benefits of the advancement of the 5G technology is Energy Response (ENRES), provider of data analysis and quality inspection services, automated energy utilization in buildings with smart system powered by the Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI). The IoT-based system provides real-time power monitoring by 24 hours in line with the international standards. Users will be able to realize the electricity utility costs in order to prepare for reducing operating costs. It comprises an online energy monitoring system, quantitative inspection and evaluation, forecasting the electricity consumption in real time by 24 hours through the use of IoT technology. It can send notifications and alerts to users regarding the monitoring of power utilization or any irregularities via email or LINE. ENRES also has the Building Health Monitoring system created to help analyze and inspect the quality and provide automated power consumption monitoring in a building using the IoT and AI technologies. Its capability encompasses monitoring of the quality of electricity, water and air quality. The digital startup also provides the Digital Energy Solution,

which is developed to help users save energy and enhance energy efficiency in variable speed drives (VSD) and cooling water circuit. There are solar cells capable of monitoring the functionality and status of the tracking machine as well as the saving mode created to track down the energy saving results in order to strike a balance in energy control. It is available in real time both in online and offline by 24 hours.

"The 5G technology will help bring down prices of hardware and connecting devices. On the other hand, the 5G technology can enhance efficiency of data analysis, processing and execution at higher speeds. Most importantly, the 5G technology will play a vital role in creating innovations and new digital solutions and services, helping to elevate the digital services developed by Thais to a more advanced level. The technology will empower the potential of Thai entrepreneurs to be able to eventually compete with others in the international stage. The depa collaborated with partners to establish the Thailand 5G Ecosystem Innovation Center (5G EIC) with an aim to rev up development of 5G ecosystem and testing out the digital technologies and innovations. The 5G EIC will serve as the center for developers from across industries in Thailand to share and exchange know-how regarding technological development and 5G infrastructure. It is also the learning center where developers and experts can share their ideas and knowledge of 5G technology. It is estimated that the 5G EIC will be a fundamental tool to help drive development of digital economy and maximize the potential of the country so that Thailand will grow with sustainability, which is in response to the government policy to enhance the economic development and push for digital society" said the President and CEO of the depa.
