The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) has cultivated savings discipline and promoted financial planning literacy through "INVESTORY Mobile Exhibition on Schools" which has been held for a 5th consecutive year in 10 provinces, recreating SET's INVESTORY museum into a mobile version. The initiative has reached out over 200,000 students from 64 schools throughout the five-year span.
SET Senior Executive Vice President Krisada Sektrakul said one of SET's legacy missions that has been carried on for more than 20 years is to provide financial literacy for the public from all walks of life and all ages. Particularly for the youth target group, SET focuses on providing savings and financial planning literacy through "INVESTORY Mobile Exhibition on Schools" project, which has been held for five consecutive years. The content of the project is based on the INVESTORY, SET's investment learning museum established to support accessibility to savings and financial planning literacy for youths. The aim is to upskill, create discipline and instill savings habits, which will groom them to be decently matured citizens, enabling them to propel the Thai society and economy toward stability, prosperity and sustainable growth. Significantly, the activity aligns with Goal No.4 "Quality Education" of UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
"Knowledge has no boundaries. INVESTORY Mobile Exhibition on Schools will enable youths in remote areas to learn and conduct workshops following the four financial management principles, called "Si Ru Su Kwam Mang Kang" (4 knowledges that will lead to wealth), comprising: Know how to generate income; Know how to save; Know how to spend; and Know how to grow your savings. This is the basic knowledge that will build proper financial immunity among the youths, especially amid the current changing environment with high impact on how to make a living. Notably, Covid-19 situation has given us a wake-up call how crucial it is for everyone to have sufficient savings for emergency case. The INVESTORY Mobile Exhibition on Schools project is a powerful tool and has been receiving an overwhelming response. From the start until this year, the project has access over 200,000 students from 64 schools," said Krisada.
INVESTORY Mobile Exhibition on Schools will travel to 10 provinces: Nakhon Pathom, Samut Sakorn, Chon Buri, Chanthaburi, Chachoengsao, Prachin Buri, Phetchaburi, Suphan Buri, Lop Buri and Chai Nat during December 2020 to February 2021.
