KASIKORNBANK (KBank) has worked with Forth Smart Service PCL (FSMART) in expanding K CHECK ID at Boonterm kiosks to provide greater convenience for customers opening a K-eSavings Account on K PLUS. For the first time, customers can verify their identity at Boonterm kiosks. Until now, the service has only been available at service points of KBank's banking agents located in stores and service centers. Customers can use the new service 24 hours a day at more than 1,312 Boonterm kiosks available now. The two parties aim to roll out the service at 2,000 additional Boonterm kiosks each year.
Mr. Tipakorn Saiphatana, KBank Executive Vice President, said that KBank and FSMART have continually developed features on Boonterm kiosks to facilitate financial transactions via this channel. Notably, facial recognition technology was introduced in the middle of this year. In the latest development, both companies have teamed to introduce K Check ID via Boonterm kiosk to allow customers to verify their identity when opening a K-eSavings Account on K PLUS. This synergy aims to improve customers' access to financial services. For the first time, identity verification can be made at an automated kiosk, which represents an upgrade in banking agent services. Until now, customers have conducted identity verification at locations including convenience stores, supermarkets, mail centers and mobile phone service centers.
This collaboration is part of KBank's endeavors to expand its customer services. From now on, customers can conduct financial services including deposits, funds transfers and K CHECK ID via any Boonterm kiosk located near their home, with no need to visit a KBank branch. The move aims to offer KBank's customers living anywhere an alternative in gaining convenient and swift access to financial services, which will in turn help bolster the deposit account base of KBank.
Mr. Pongchai Amatanont, FSMART President, the number-one end-to-end automated service platform operator via Boonterm kiosk, said, "This collaboration represents the company's efforts to press ahead with the full-fledged facial recognition service, with Boonterm being the first automated kiosk in Thailand to expand upon the identity authentication service now available 24 hours a day at more than 130,000 locations nationwide. During the first phase, customers of KBank and Boonterm can use the K CHECK ID service via Boonterm kiosk at around 1,312 points, before expanding by another 1,000-2,000 points every year under the set target."
Identity verification via Boonterm kiosk offers the advantage of swiftness, allowing data to be sent directly to relevant agencies, while eliminating the need for customers to contact Bank branches by themselves to submit documents as proof of their identity. Transactions are conducted with greater ease and speed, particularly financial transactions that involve withdrawal or funds transfer. It also benefits e-commerce businesses which give importance to security and credibility. This service also ensures that all data given by the user is secured.
Customers who have already provided information to open a K-eSavings Account on the K PLUS app can use their national ID card to verify their identity at a Boonterm kiosk simply by selecting 'K Check ID' on the menu option before inserting their national ID card into the kiosk. After completing the transaction at Boonterm kiosk, customers open K PLUS, take a picture of their face for identity verification, and compare it to that of their national ID card via KBank's facial recognition technology before confirming the transaction. Once the verification process is completed, the account can be opened immediately.
