NTT DATA Thailand joins force with Locus Telecommunication Inc., raising fund for much-needed medical supplies for two hospitals in red zone to aid in fight against COVID-19

To help in the ongoing fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, NTT DATA Thailand and Locus Telecommunication Inc. organized a fundraising project called "Give & Share: one person gives, another shares, together against COVID-19." The purpose was to buy and donate medical supplies and equipment to Luang Phor Taweesak Chutinataro Uthit Hospital and Bang Khun Thian Geriatric Hospital, both of which are located in the Bangkok Metropolitan Region which is a high-rise zone, to enable better care for COVID patients and protect medical staff.

Mr Hironari Tomioka, President and CEO of NTT DATA Thailand, a subsidiary of NTT DATA Corporation said that as the COVID-19 outbreak continues and the coronavirus is evolving into new variants, new infections continue to be reported and the number of severe cases remains high. As a result, hospitals in the high risk zone are taking in a large number of COVID patients daily, overstretching their resources and leaving them in dire need of medical supplies and equipment that can treat critically ill COVID patients and reduce the death rate.

For this reason, NTT DATA Thailand joined force with Locus Telecommunication Inc, a subsidiary of NTT DATA, to organize the project called "Give & Share: one person gives, another shares, together against COVID-19," urging employees and any interested individual to make donations. The project was shared on social media and other outlets to give the general public an opportunity to contribute to the companies' fundraising campaign from August 24 to September 6. The idea was that everyone could play a part in this fight against the pandemic. Throughout the period of the project, the donation raised was a total of THB 439,653.

Andrew Yim, CEO of Locus Telecommunications Inc. stated that all of the money raised was used to buy eight types of medical supplies and equipment, totaling more than 660 units. These included high-flow nasal cannula and oxygen concentrator accessories, air ionizers, personal protective equipment (PPE) and N95 masks for medical personnel. On September 16, 2021, the management team and employees donated these medical supplies and equipment to two hospitals, namely Luang Phor Taweesak Chutinataro Uthit Hospital and Bang Khun Thian Geriatric Hospital.

The purpose of "Give & Share: one person gives, another shares, together against COVID-19," co-organized by NTT DATA Thailand and Locus Telecommunication Inc., was to be part of the efforts that help our society as it battles the COVID-19 crisis. It was a collective endeavor from the management team, employees as well concerned individuals who, together, raised a fund for purchasing medical supplies and equipment to donate to hospitals and supported medical staff working tirelessly to save patients.
