Banpu Connects Employee Experience to The Business, Transforming its Digital HR with SAP Social Media Integration Service

SAP SE (NYSE: SAP) today announced that a non-oil energy conglomerate, Banpu Group, is the first company in Thailand that has co-innovated in the Social Media Integration (SMI) service, an extended technology from SAP(R) SuccessFactors(R), following their previous investment in SAP SuccessFactors solution. By providing the new intelligent cloud-based HR service on the LINE and WeChat platform, Banpu will have a visibility to real time insights and feedback from employees, which will help the company enhance their employee engagement and drive better business outcomes.

According to Banpu's human resource philosophy, the company moved forward by putting the people at the heart and center of its work. The pandemic has underscored an urgent need for Banpu to not only drive business's resiliency but also redefine the way to engage with their employees. Banpu wanted to make their employees feel valued and being taken care of, support a flexible work schedule, and provide a better balance between their physical and mental health, quality of life, and work responsibilities. The company managed to strengthen its engagement with 6,000 employees in 10 countries across the globe and delivered a higher employee satisfaction rate with the support of intelligent technologies from SAP.

Banpu's business transformation in partnership with SAP began in 2019 "Since 2019, we have adopted SAP Success Factor solutions for HR Transformation to Cloud based solutions to fulfil Banpu Group's vision and mission and transcendent new experiences for our employees," Somnimit Lakanapantip and Baramee Saelee, HR Digitalization Department, BANPU Public Company Limited said, "As a result, Banpu has a robust intelligent HR platform, and the team has the ability to understand the needs of our employees. We have a visibility to a real-time employees database, recruitment, onboarding, succession planning, learning management, performance and goal setting and compensation management. SAP SuccessFactors also helps us take traditional HR processes to the cloud, digitalizing and upskilling, where employees are empowered to take on higher-value roles and diversify their skillsets and knowledge, playing a greater role in driving business growth and transformation."

Amidst the pandemic, Banpu has gone through some significant changes driven by employees' behaviour shifts. "We need to redefine and adapt fast to the way we engage with our employees as majority of them are now working remotely. For this reason, we decided to continue our partnership with SAP to further digitalize our HR service and co-innovated, Social Media Integration (SMI), a new digital HR service to enable a more connected system and work process so that more than 1,300 of our highly skilled employees who play a critical role in the company's growth can leverage these advance capabilities to fuel the company's growth. We expect that our business will emerge stronger both financially and as a trusted brand from this transformation." Somnimit and Baramee added.

Banpu Group is the first company in Thailand that has transformed its HR function by implementing and integrating Social Media Integration (SMI) with the existing SAP SuccessFactors. The Social Media Integration (SMI) Service for SAP Success Factors is the industry-leading cloud-based solution that can help Banpu Group connect the company's official account in the chat applications such as WeChat in China and LINE in Thailand so that employees can access and request for HR services from any devices, anywhere, anytime. Using a combination of cloud-based HR and experience management solutions, Banpu management can also listen and respond to their employees' feedback and improve internal communications to maintain flexibility and healthy work-life balance while connects those insights with customer demand to deliver business's improvements.

Atul Tuli, Managing Director, SAP Indochina, said: "HR function plays a vital role in making sure the organization is living its purpose and value, which can lead to stronger financial performance, increased employee engagement, and higher customer trust. HR leaders around the globe have started to look to implement flexible ways of working strategies in the midst of the pandemic. Intelligent technologies can enable the new way of work and redesign of work in their organizations. Banpu Group is the first company in Thailand that leverages this solution, and we are glad to partner with Banpu Group to help them drive innovation and success within the company."
