HUAWEI CLOUD hosts second Cloud Developer Contest in Thailand, promoting the development of local ICT experts to make Thailand the region's digital hub

Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd. has organized the second HUAWEI CLOUD Developer Contest in Thailand to continue its support of skilled innovators and software developers, across public and student-specific categories, hosted under the theme of "Creating the Good for Thailand and Society for a Better Future". The Contest encouraged participants to use HUAWEI CLOUD capabilities and services to create valuable applications and solutions for Thai enterprises and society.

The contest was part of Huawei's recent 'POWERING DIGITAL THAILAND 2022: HUAWEI CLOUD & CONNECT and ASIA PACIFIC INNOVATION DAY' event, which showcased new technologies and digital initiatives for Thailand alongside exhibitions, case studies and potential solutions around digital transformation.

Mr. Abel Deng, CEO of Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd., said that "Huawei would like to congratulate all winning teams for their outstanding submissions. As a leading global technology company with the mission to Grow in Thailand and Contribute to Thailand, Huawei continually fosters Thai startup and small business development, as well as accelerate their growth. We have been collaborating with the National Innovation Agency (NIA) for two years to develop projects that upskill startups, which have resulted in the participation of over 41,000 local ICT talent. The company also launched its 'HUAWEI Spark Ignite' competition to upskill and encourage the use of Cloud technology by local startups, providing not only financial support but also the core platform and training and resources by Huawei experts. Huawei deeply believes that the key to Thailand's sustainable development lies in digital transformation and recognizes the importance of ecosystems that nurture startups, entrepreneurs, and even 'Unicorn-level' companies. It is why we are hosting the Developer Contest for a second year and hope the competition will educate participants about our technologies and inspire new ideas for future success. Huawei is confident we will see a Unicorn-level company appear from within these finalists."

Dr. Pun-Arj Chairatana, Executive Director and Secretary of the National Innovation Agency (NIA), presided over the award ceremony for the winning teams, saying, "As a representative of the National Innovation Agency, I would like to congratulate all this year's finalists. Over recent years, Thailand's National Innovation System and digital economy have developed significantly, enhancing the country's innovation potential to the next level. When considering the Global Innovation Index, Thailand has risen in rank from 51st to 43rd within just three-to-four years. Yet the Index also highlights several key areas where Thailand needs to develop further, including its infrastructure and capabilities to create digital content and assets. I believe this Contest will drive change and boost the development of every contestant participating in each category. It also serves as a stage to showcase and refine creative innovations, which Huawei will continue to support."

The HUAWEI CLOUD Developer Contest was held for the second consecutive year, with more than 50 teams participating in this year's competition, with the aim of supporting contestants to apply HUAWEI CLOUD capabilities and services to create valuable applications and solutions for Thai enterprises and society.
