FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and one of the world's largest express transportation companies, has donated to a remote school in Songkhla, Thailand, as part of its humanitarian efforts of helping communities throughout a difficult year in the region.
FedEx Express Thailand's donation, which comprised of mobile phones, accessories, and educational equipment worth more than THB 278,000, was made to the Muang Khuan Krot School in Chana district, Songkhla, to support the school's efforts to ensure online schooling for students during the COVID-19 pandemic is successful.
COVID-19 has caused an acceleration in digital and technological transformation across the globe. In Thailand, this digital acceleration has negatively impacted students in remote provinces who have little to no access to electricity or devices required for online learning. As a result, an increasing number of students have either abandoned or put their education on hold.
A survey by the Equitable Education Fund (EEF) reveals that up to 10% of Thailand's total student population had dropped out of the education system as of June 2021, with the number projected to increase over time.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the company has transported nearly 14,000 COVID-19 related humanitarian aid shipments globally in aid of relief efforts, including providing logistics support to help non-profits reach underserved communities. FedEx continue to work with nonprofits and governments to deliver COVID-19 vaccines and related supplies where and when they are needed most.
