To build on the powerful impact of a football-related campaign conducted by Pepsi as the leader in sports marketing strategy, and to stir Thai football fans' excitement towards the special football match between Thai National Team vs. Manchester United, 'Pepsi' has recently invested Bt50 million in its latest nationwide promotion, providing Thai football fans a chance to win 3,000 tickets worth over Bt4,000,000 in total. This once-in-a-life-time opportunity entitles lucky consumers to attend their "dream match" on Sunday, July 29, 2001, at the Rajamangala National Stadium, Hua Mark. The promotion runs from now until June 30, 2001.
Mr. Charlie Jitcharoongphorn, Marketing Director of Pepsi-Cola International, revealed that this special promotion is aimed at reinforcing the leadership of Pepsi in sports marketing and reflects Pepsi's commitment in bringing consumers superior experiences under its 'Ask For More' positioning.
"We are convinced that this special promotion will be warmly welcomed by and bring about utmost satisfaction to Pepsi drinkers. This is because all tickets to this special match between the Thai National Team and Manchester United were already sold out. However, Pepsi's latest promotion will make consumers' dream come true by allowing them to win tickets to see with their own eyes their favourite world-class football players in a live match. Such a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and experience is what Pepsi is always striving to offer our consumers," said Mr. Jitcharoongphorn.
Under Pepsi's latest promotion, merely send a plastic liner marked with Manchester United's logo under the crown of 10-, 15-, 21-, 35-oz, or PET 500-, 1.25-, 2-litre Pepsi, Mirinda, or 7-Up, together with the consumer's name and address, to P.O. Boxes 38-39 Muang-Thai Phatra Complex, Bangkok 10324. Consumers are entitled to win:
1st Prize : 600 Bt2,000-worth 'Man Utd - Thailand Invitation' tickets, worth Bt1.2 million in total
2nd Prize : 2,400 Bt1,200-worth 'Man Utd - Thailand Invitation'
tickets, worth Bt2.88 million in total
There will be 3 lucky draws at the 'Pepsi Soccer Fair' to be held on June 23 at Seacon Square, on June 30 at Central Airport Plaza - Chiang Mai, and on July 7 at Central Rama III. At each lucky draw, 1,000 winners will be announced: 200 to win the 1st prize, and 800 to win the 2nd prize. The winners will be announced via Internet at and in Siam Sports Daily newspaper on June 28, July 5, and July 12.
To create a powerful impact, the promotion will be supported by television commercials, print ads, radio spots, posters, and point-of-purchase materials. In addition, Pepsi will join forces in holding exciting campaigns with leading business partners in the modern trade (e.g. Lotus and Big-C), convenience store (e.g. 7-Eleven), supermarket (e.g. TOPS Supermarket) businesses; gas stations (e.g. Shell and Esso); fastfood restaurants; and food courts throughout the country.
"To reach a wider group of consumers, we are planning to hold other promotions for those who fail to win Thai National Team vs. Manchester United tickets. We are convinced that football-related activities and promotions under this year's 'Pepsi Soccer 2001' campaign will achieve its objectives in enhancing Pepsi's image, further strengthening relationships with consumers, and increasing sales volume. Above all, this is believed to help ensure Pepsi's position as the number one softdrink, both on the consumers' minds and in the country's carbonated drink market," concluded Mr. Jitcharoongphorn.
