Bloomberg L.P., the global information and news provider, is awarding 20 students from Chulalongkorn, Thammasat, Kasetsart, Mahidol and Assumption Universities with scholarships and special workshops to help prepare them to lead Thailand's banking, brokerage and financial services industries.
Twenty top undergraduates will be chosen for the first-ever Bloomberg Thailand Fellowship Program. Each student will receive cash grants that will be applied towards their university tuition. Special programs providing hands-on experience in stock and bond analysis, portfolio management and derivatives trading will also be conducted. This will give students the opportunity to explore the practical dimensions of the financial industry and its application to the theories that are learnt through their tertiary education.
Judges for the Bloomberg Thailand Fellowship Program are:
Khun Somprasong Boonyachai, president of Advanced Info Service; Khun Pornsanong Tuchinda, president of DBS Thai Danu Bank; Khun Kittivalai Charoensombut-amorn, managing director of Lehman Brothers (Thailand); Mr. William Botwick, president of General Motors (Thailand); Khun Piti Sithi-Amnuai, executive vice chairman of Bangkok Bank; Dr. Supavud Saicheua, executive vice president of Merrill Lynch Phatra Securities Ltd. and economic advisor to the prime minister; Khun Pichai Pongpairoj, president of the Thai Bond Dealing Centre; Khun Sompan Charumilinda, CEO of United Broadcasting Corp.; and Lee Miller, editor-at-large for Bloomberg News.
Fellowship Winners will receive training on the Bloomberg Professional system. The leading information and analytical tool that over half-a-million investment professionals globally depend on for their investment decisions. Financial experts will fly in from abroad to provide these 20 leaders of tomorrow the training needed to give Thailand a competitive head start in the future.

The 20 Winners of the Bloomberg Thailand Fellowship will be announced June 28 at a reception to inaugurate the Bloomberg Bangkok office and commemorate the 10-year anniversary of Bloomberg News in Thailand.
