Continuing its efforts to provide best in class service to its global customer base, Seagate Technology, Inc. (NYSE : SEG) today announced that Joel A. Stead has been promoted to the newly created position of senior vice president, International Sales Operations. Previously senior vice president of Asia Pacific Sales and Marketing, Stead will now oversee sales and marketing activities in the Asia-Pacific, Japan, Europe, Middle East and Africa regions (EMEA). Based in Paris, he will continue to report to Michael Huntley, who is responsible for Worldwide Disc Drive Sales.
"Joel has successfully led the Asia Pacific sales leam through his commitment to customer satisfaction and consistent responsiveness to customers' needs," said Al Shugart, Seagate's chief executive officer and chairman of the board. "Joel's efforts have helped Seagate to win awards from key customers such as Sony. Inventec, Mitac, First International Corporation and Acer along with prestigious honors like the Channels' Choice 1997 Award from Channels' Asia Magazine. In his new role, Joel has the opportunity to expand customer relationships in the Middle East, Africa and Europe while furthering his record of success in the Asia Pacific region. I am confident that Joel's insight into the information technology industry combined with more than a decade of sales experience will result in an increased Scagate presence in international markets."
Stead joined Seagate in 1985 as manager of Operations and Planning, and later manager of Product Marketing and Business Planning. His success led to positions as vice president, Product Line Management and Marketing. Stead was promoted to vice president and managing director, Asia Pacific Sales and Marketing in 1994 and most recently, was appointed senior vice president and managing director, Asia Pacific Sales and Marketing.
Stead holds a Masters of Busniess Administration from Drury College-Breech School of Business Administration as well as a Masters of International Management from the American Graduate School of International Management. End.
