Bangkok--Jan 26--HSBC
HSBC has appointed Marcus Hurry as Chief Executive Officer of HSBC in Thailand, with effect from 28 January 2005. He succeeds David Kenney, who will take up a senior position in the Group Credit and Risk Unit at HSBC’s head office in London.
Mr Hurry graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics from the University of Bath, United Kingdom. He joined HSBC in 1982 and has held senior management roles in Dubai, Hong Kong, the US, Taiwan and Brunei. Most recently, Mr Hurry has held the post of Chief Executive Officer of HSBC in Brunei over the past two years.
Mr Hurry said: “Thailand is a challenging market. Its fast-growing economy presents attractive growth potential in a highly competitive environment. I’m excited to join the HSBC team in Thailand and I aim to take the Thai operations forward with a commitment in corporate social responsibility, while delivering our banking skills, high standards, global experience and local knowledge to our customers.”
