Bangkok--Jul 27--SET
A roadshow led by The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and joined by investment experts will take place in Songkhla province. Songkhla is Thailand’s most active investing southern province. The roadshow will take place on Saturday, July 30 at the J.B. Hotel in Hat Yai. Admission is free. Attendees will receive a booklet on energy saving tips, plus two SET pocket books. They will also have a chance to win free satellite dishes to view the Money Channel as well as win a subscription to M&W magazine.
Ms. Sopawadee Lertmanaschai, SET Executive Vice President, announced that the stock trading value in Songkhla province still ranks highest in the country (if Bangkok and vicinity are excluded). During the first 6 months of this year, the total turnover in Songkhla amounted to THB.142.67 bln. (Approx. USD3.57 bln.) or approximately THB24 bln. a month. The amounts indicate that people in the province are still active in stock trading.
Currently there are 18 securities firms with open branch offices in the South. Out of an overall 48 offices in the south, 21 of them are located in Songkhla province.
“This is the 4th time we’ll be holding a roadshow in Songkhla. A comparison of the 2005 turnover with that in 2004 shows that stock trading in the South, including Songkhla, hasn’t been affected much by the incidents in its surrounding areas. The roadshow will not only provide the southern residents with the most updated information, but will also show them our moral support as well as strengthen their confidence in their overall investment conditions,” Ms. Sopawadee said.
The SET Roadshow in Songkhla will take place on Saturday, July 30, 2005, between 09:00 — 17:00 hrs. in the Takuapa Room of the J.B. Hotel. There will be booths, exhibitions, and activities provided by 28 participating organizations including the securities firms, investment management companies, the SET & its subsidiaries, the Agricultural Futures Exchange of Thailand (AFET) and its members.
Interesting seminar sessions include “How to Invest and Get Double Bonuses”, “Investment Strategies That Will Prepare You for the Upturn”, and “Stock Picking in the Year of the Rooster”. The highlight will be “The Stock Trends for Q3 and Q4” by Mr. Piyasavasti Amranand Ph.D., Chairman of Kasikorn Asset Management, Mr. Montree Sornpaisarn, CEO of Kim Eng Securities (Thailand) Pcl. and Mr. Sethaput Suthiwart-narueput Ph.D., Senior Vice President of The SET. Mr. Theerat Ratanasevi, from ITV, will be the session’s moderator.
