Bangkok--Aug 8--SET
Today (August 5) the Thai government’s Public Relations Dept. (PRD) held a seminar for 420 cable TV operators in Thailand. Mr. Suranand Vejjajiva, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, chaired the seminar and gave policy guidelines concerning cable TV operations, program patents and production of local news to make the coordination between the PRD and cable TV operators more efficient.
The Director of the Directing Board for Broadcasting Division, Mr. Grisanaporn Soempanich, said that the PRD has formed a network of cable TV operators, including licensed and non-licensed operators, to help them operate more smoothly while waiting for the National Broadcasting Division to be established. It was found that, in the past eight months, local cable TV played an important role in communicating important news.
After today’s’ meeting, Family Know-How Co. Ltd. (FKH) granted signal boxes to local cable TV operators so that ffer their clients would be able to follow-up on stock movements and news on economic and finance issues.
The President of the FKH, Mr. Ratchapol Laovanitch, added that the cable TV operators will not have to pay for the signal boxes or the distribution rights to the ‘Money Channel’. The FKH expects that, after all the boxes have been installed, there’ll be over a million households in Thailand able to view the Money Channel.
He went on to say that the FKH would regularly publicize its informative and entertaining programming through various other medias. This includes the live broadcast of Asian (15-Year) Football Match between August 6 -13, 2005.
The FKH is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the SET. The company operates the ‘Money Channel’ to educate people about the capital market, providing them with quick and fair access to accurate financial and investment information. The granting of the signal boxes is also being supported by the PRD and the Samart Group.
