Bangkok--Aug 23--SET
The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) collaborates with Khon Kaen University (KKU) in building a fitness center on its campus to promote both exercising and studying among students, teachers and locals.
SET President Mr. Kittiratt Na-Ranong said after opening the “Bon Physique Fitness Center” on August 20 at KKU that the center is a collaboration between the SET and KKU under the “University Networking” project. The new center is to promote exercise and learning, could also act as a model for other universities, and will benefit Khon Kaen as a whole.
“The SET provided THB6.0 mln. for the construction of the 384 sq.m. health center. The Center is equipped with facilities such as exercise, aerobic and physical therapy rooms as well as a room for physical capability evaluations and a sauna. The center can serve 30,000 guests from KKU and its surrounding communities. With its existing well-organized administration, the center can be developed to serve as a model for other health centers or other sports projects to follow,” said Mr. Kittiratt.
Deputy Governor of Khon Kaen Mr. Seri Pichitsiri said, “The Bon Physique fitness center will promote both good health and learning. The place will also be an exercise lab for students in various fields such as sports science, database management, applied electrical mechanics, business system planning and marketing, health and beauty products, food sciences, and foreign languages and social development. Therefore it is a good that we have constructed a quality, well-managed health center in Khon Kaen.”
At the opening of the Center, the Sports Authority of Thailand provided its Sports Science Mobile Unit to help promote a greater understanding about sports science and technology to those in attendance. Among other demonstrations, the Mobile Unit showcased its ability to conduct speed capability tests on athletes from KKU and the national youth team.
