Business Software Alliance (BSA) announced that registration for the Get SAM Get Compliant program has been closed now. Supported by the Department of Intellectual Property, Ministry of Commerce, this program aimed to create awareness about intellectual property rights and to encourage the use of licensed software in businesses.
Organizations in the public and private sectors, including listed companies and independent organizations, had shown interest and signed up to participate the campaign. Participants would have obtained useful advice on software asset management (SAM) from the BSA. The implementation of a model SAM practice would help to improve their productivity and enable better corporate governance.
All applicants joining the programme would have submitted their audited inventory list to the BSA by August 16. Once the information is verified, all successful applicants would receive a BSA SAM certificate, and a 1-year immunity from BSA initiated enforcement raids .A list of all successful organizations will be posted on www.samthai.com.
As a further incentive to businesses for adopting a SAM practice, the BSA will be awarding three organizations with the best software management practices with a SAM Best Practice Award in recognition for their efforts.
Meanwhile, companies that have not signed up under this program and continue to use illegal software may be soon be raided and face prosecution. To report software piracy in the workplace for a reward of up to THB250,000.- call the BSA Anti-Piracy Hotline at 1800 291 005 or 0 2711 6193. All identity of all callers will be treated confidential.
