Bangkok--Aug 24--DTAC
Unveiling the post-paid service strategy for the remainder of 2005 after price war and under economic crunch time, DTAC has modified the existing “Postpaid SIM” into “Credit SIM” concept, whereby customers can use the service now and pay later. The inaugural product under the “Credit SIM” concept is “Three” which offers the customer the rate of one baht per minute for three special numbers and 300 free SMS messages to these numbers. This package is aimed at medium users, with more variations of “Credit SIM” in the pipeline.
Thana Thienachariya, Chief Commercial Officer of Total Access Communication PLC., said now that telecom industry has come to another turning point, from price war to a period of Postmodern, DTAC has introduced new concept by modifying postpaid to Credit SIM. The previous postpaid service gives the impression of a monthly obligation each client has to meet and also requires registration, considered as obstacle to new subscriber application. In fact, post-paid service means extending credit to the customer similar to what credit cards do — the “use now, pay later.” As a result, DTAC has positioned its post-paid service offer as “Credit SIM” to inject fresh perspective and motivation towards the service. The move also defines the basis for strategy and marketing techniques of DTAC from now on.
“To mark this turning point, DTAC is today launching the “Three” package with a view to capture more market shares from the medium users, following the established 'my' package. “Three” is a suitable offer under the current economic environment because customers can get the economic rate of one baht per minute for the three most frequently-called numbers, plus 300 free text messages. Calls to other numbers are charged at normal rates. We are designing several follow-up packages to fill up the series in the near future for those who require more usage than “Three,” said Mr. Thana.
“Three”, Credit SIM, use now and pay later—starts at 499 baht per month. The customer can choose three special numbers for which the special call rate of 1 baht per minute would be applied, alongside 300 free text messages. Calls to other numbers will be charged at 3 baht per minute (per second basis charge applied with minimum charge of 30 sec.) and SMS at 3 baht per message. Current subscribers can switch to this package by simply applying through *1878, or through the Call Centre *1800., or contact DTAC Service Halls and DTAC Shop nationwide.
