The Pizza Company Collaborates with Ripley’s Museum Pattaya in search of a new Pizza eating world record. The winner received more than a hundred thousand Baht’s worth of prizes
The winner of Thailand’s first Pizza Eating contest has been announced. The contest, a joint effort, between The Pizza Company 1112, Thailand’s number one pizza, and Ripley’s “Believe it or Not!” Museum , Pattaya, was aimed at finding the person who could eat the most slices of pizza in 11 minutes. At stake was a Ripley’s Certificate of Recognition, the distinction of being Thailand’s first ever Pizza speed-eating champion and a hundred thousand baht’s worth of prizes.
This pizza speed-eating contest, which was held on the 27th August 2005 at the Royal Gardens Plaza in Pattaya, attracted overwhelming support from local and foreign pizza lovers and spectators. Contestants had been trained very hard to get in shape and prepare for this grand event. The contestants were required to eat as many slices of pizza in 11 minutes as possible. Four different toppings were on the menu - Super Deluxe, Chicken Trio, Seafood and Hawaiian.
The competition started with a signal from the referee and the countdown began. Each contestant employed their own special techniques in order to gobble down as many slices of pizza as possible as the crowd cheered their support. The atmosphere became more and more intense as each contestant competed against the clock and each other to create a nail biting finale.
Aside from the official Pizza Eating contest, another pizza eating competition was held between Khun Kung Rawich Raiwin, an actor who enjoys eating pizza more than anything else, and Khun Khao Lam, a former Miss Tiffany contestant who proved to be a more than capable contender despite her slim body.
The event ended with a prize giving ceremony by The Pizza Company executive, who presented the winner with a cash prize of 30,000 baht and other prizes valued at more than 100,000 baht. The champion will go on to represent Thailand in an international ‘The Pizza Company pizza-eating competition’, sometime in the future.
