Bangkok--Aug 31--Tourism New Zealand
Travel to the world's most southern capital - Wellington, New Zealand - and find a different color for your life. The city is filled with different shades from government to embassy’s buildings, from office buildings to shopping centers, and from theaters to art galleries. More activities await to be discovered.
Wellington can be viewed from different perspectives, but the most popular way is by cable car. The unique vehicle takes you to the fresh air of Mount Victoria, a bird eye’s view of the harbor, followed by a nice walk in the botanical garden on top of the mountain.
Wellington has more to offer. Te Papa Tongarewa National Museum offers free admission for you to learn more about New Zealand and Maori culture in three zones; history, present and the future. Before you know it, your visit will be history. This is not an ordinary museum, because it is filled with high technology that you can enjoy. After an edutainment experience, don't miss The Beehive, or the Government House, which is the largest wooden building ever constructed in the Southern hemisphere.
Indulge yourself in four shopping streets of Wellington: Lampton Square, Willis Quarter, Cuba Quarter and Courtenay Square, between 9am and 5pm. There are more than 350 restaurants and bars to choose from. Unsurprisingly, in 2004, Wellington was voted the 18th hottest city in the world by readers of Conde Naste Traveller’s magazine. Most importantly, you can't leave Wellington without a cup of coffee served in a local cafe.
Wellington has recently been selected to host the World of WearableArt Awards (WOW) 2005, replacing the former venue of Trafalgar Center in Nelson, which became too small for the world-class extravaganza.
