Toyota Motor Thailand Co., Ltd in collaboration with the Thailand Environment Institute has expressed their concerns over the Global Warming phenomenon caused by the emission of carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere, as a result of fuel burning activities such as electricity generation or transportation. At present, global warming has become the true global threat feared by all nations including Thailand. In its recognition, Toyota Motor Thailand has joined force with the Thai Environment Institute in the “Stop Global Warming in Schools and Cities for Better Climate” campaign and selected 25 representative schools and municipalities nationwide. The objective is to increase awareness and promote understandings on climate change and global warming among local entities namely municipalities, schools, local and community leaders. The “Stop Global Warming in Schools and Cities for Better Climate” campaign would be carried out via the Learning and Participating approach of the participating students and authorities from governmental agencies so that they could form activities to prevent further global warming in their schools, workplaces and communities. The campaign will continue for 1 year starting from May 2005 to April 2006 with supports from the Department of Environmental Quality Promotion, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment; Ministry of Education; the National Municipalities League of Thailand; Energy Policy and Planning Office, Ministry of Energy; the Department of Local Administration, Ministry of Interior and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration. Toyota has reflected its environmental concerns in the company’s environment action plan with regard to the reduction of Carbon Dioxide emission into the atmosphere. ‘Stop Global Warming in Schools and Cities for Better Climate’ is, therefore, one of environmental activities from Toyota. We sincerely believe that in joining this project, the participants would gain an in-depth understanding enabling them to initiate applicable resolutions. Toyota Motor Thailand would like to thank the Thailand Environment Institute for their initiation of the project beneficial to the communities, the nation and also to the world environment”. End.
