PETRONAS, Malaysia’s multinational petroleum corporation, today officially launched its range of premium grade automotive and motorcycle engine oils in Thailand. The move into this downstream activity is expected to further enhance PETRONAS’ presence in Thailand, where it has already ventured into the country’s petroleum retailing sector since 1996.
PETRONAS will initially market its range of SYNTIUM lubricants for cars through its existing 1,000 lubricant dealers and over 120 service stations in Thailand. This includes the synthetic range of SYNTIUM 5000, 3000, 1000 and 800. The products will be available in 4-litre and 1-litre packs.
“All products in the SYNTIUM range have been developed using race-proven Formula One technology through PETRONAS’ involvement in and close collaboration with the SAUBER PETRONAS Formula One team. They have also been extensively tested and proven in field, racetrack and laboratory environments,” said Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of PETRONAS Retail (Thailand) Company Limited (PRTCL) Mr. Abdul Rahim Ismail.
All SYNTIUM products meet and exceed the American Petroleum Institute (API) SM performance standards, currently the latest and highest performance standard for gasoline engine oils. As a result, the SYNTIUM range offers consumers the ultimate engine performance and protection even under the most extreme and demanding driving conditions. In addition, the premium synthetic Syntium 5000 also meets and exceeds the International Lubricants and Standardization Approval Committee (ILSAC) GF-4, delivering fuel economy and maximum power to the consumers.
The SAUBER PETRONAS Formula One cars are also using a special formulation of SYNTIUM.
“With SYNTIUM entering the market, consumers of Thailand are given more choices to choose among the highest quality of lubricant products for their cars. We aim to make PETRONAS brand the most preferred brand in Thailand,” Rahim added.
Apart from SYNTIUM, PETRONAS also introduced its premium grade motorcycle engine oil SPRINTA and other lubricants such as Motolub, the high performance lubricant for diesel engines and other specialty products such as the Automatic Transmission Oil (ATF), gear oil and grease.
The range of PETRONAS lubricants enjoy a significant share of the Malaysian market. Apart from Thailand, PETRONAS lubricants, particularly SYNTIUM, are already available in Switzerland, Liechtenstein, South Africa, China, Indonesia, the Philippines, Myanmar and Sudan.
Today’s launch ceremony of PETRONAS lubricants was held at the Central World Plaza here and was officiated by PRTCL’s Managing Director/CEO Mr. Abdul Rahim Ismail. Also present was Malaysia’s Ambassador to Thailand, H.E. Dato' Shaarani Ibrahim.
Making a special appearance at the event were members of the 4X4 PETRONAS Adventure Team (PAT), who are currently on their Trans Himalaya expedition.
