Bangkok--Sep 28--SET
The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) countersigned an MOU to mutually promote financial literacy under the SET’s University Networking Project. A SET Corner will be established at the university’s central library.
SET Executive Vice President Mr. Punsak Vejanurug announced that today (September 27) the SET and NIDA signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to jointly promote financial literacy to NIDA students, lecturers, staff and the general public. The cooperation will be made under the SET’s University Networking Project, which has spread through leading academic institutions nationwide.
“This collaborative effort will focus on offering finance courses in response to demands in the business sector. Furthermore, a personal finance course will be developed in a way that students from any discipline can register to study,” the SET EVP said.
In addition to curriculum development, both institutions will cooperate to make NIDA a center for finance and investment information, from which the students and lecturers as well as the public can take advantage of an up-to-date database.
NIDA President Assoc. Prof. Preecha Jarungidanan, Ph.D. said: “It is our mission to excel in academics, morality and ethics in addition to acting as a social leader. Having an opportunity to work with the SET to educate people will be another important step in establishing a good investment culture.”
The SET EVP added that: “There will also be training courses held on topics such as basic knowledge of financial markets and investing in equities, bonds and derivatives. Special e-Learning facilities will be provided via Internet access to www.tsi-thailand.org.”
In addition to the academic activities that the SET will jointly organize with NIDA, a SET Corner has been established at NIDA’s School of Business Administration, at the School’s Innovation Center, 8/f of the Common Hall. The Corner will provide a variety of books and magazines as well as financial market information and SETSMART (SET Market Analysis and Reporting Tool) facilities.
