Acer Computer Co., Ltd. has retained leadership in Thailand’s notebook market for three consecutive years (2003 — June 2005) with 32% market share in the first half of the year, according to IDC. Delivering on its strong commitment to customer requirements, Acer has launched two new series of entertainment notebooks — the 15.4-inch widescreen Aspire 5510 and 17-inch widescreen Aspire 9500 — designed for users who require both productivity and entertainment capabilities. Apart from the recent rollout of multimedia PCs, this latest product launch is part of the company’s plan to expand entertainment market.

“According to IDC (global IT market intelligence and advisory firm), Acer still ranked No. 1 in notebook sales with 32% market share (consumer and corporate segments) in the first and second quarters, maintaining the gap of 2-4 percentage point with its closest competitor. By the end of this year, we target to increase our sales, maintain leadership, and grow our market share,” added Nitipat.
Mr. Boonchai Ngouvisitkul, Senior Portable PM Department Manager, Acer Computer Co., Ltd, said, “The Notebook TV launched today comes in two series — the 15.4-inch widescreen Aspire 5510 and 17-inch widescreen Aspire 9500. These new products will provide both productivity and digital entertainment experience with TV Tuner for digital TV (UHF and VHF) and analog TV (NTSC, PAL and SECAM) along with a full-size remote controller and mini PCMCIA module. Unlike any other notebooks now available in the market, Acer’s Notebook TV allows users in any countries to view television programs anytime anywhere. The Aspire 5512WLMi incorporated 15.4” WXGA Acer CrystalBrite TFT LCD (1280 x 800 pixel), Intel Pentium M 740, 512MB DDR2 RAM, while the Aspire 9504WSMi includes 17” WXGA Acer CrystalBrite TFT LCD (1440 x 900 pixel), Intel Pentium M 760, 1024MB DDR2 RAM. These units are priced at Bt69,900 and Bt89,900 respectively.”
“We have also added the e-key function into these new products. This function has been developed as part of our Empowering Technology initiative, which aims to provide easy-to-use features in each product line including notebooks, desktops and projectors.
